Sorry to undermine this, but I was under the impression (from people who really are connected with the series) that Tony was signed up for at least another series, and that was as far as C4 were thinking at the moment.
Do you have inside knowledge or is this just a idle thought?
its one of the eternal questions if tony robinson was taken ill who would they draft in. kate humble would be my choice. i found it interesting that she is an expert diver and such a natural in front of the camera. i have put this in here not to be negative but i am interested in who they have as a presenter if tony wasnt available. in my opinion it would have to be someone different. i cant think of anyone who could do it who has worked on history or archaeology programmes before. she was on the big dig but a bit confined in the activity room. if i was taking the P*** I would like to someone controversial do it like FRANcis pryor. i am not really fan of tv programmes and i try to be critical because i hate sycophantic tributes or enthusiasts. i think timeteam is brilliant but needs revamping occasionally like all good television?
I for one would tune in to watch her any time. She looks cracking on those nature programmes with Bill Oddie........ or is that just because she's next to Bill Oddie ??

Kate is gorgeous and is cool and laid back and still young. you'd rather kiss her skin wouldnt you! if you had to spend a day in the dirt or a muddy trench who would you rather spend it with -i dont think TOny will leave unless he got a safe seat who knows - he must be one of tonys cronies. i think Kate as real credibility as a presenter she is bright and has a good brain - she is no mere channel 5 Egyptian Trip babe!

In Rough Science she said she was an experienced diver and did diving a few times. Yes, she is very attractive and yes i do think she is much better than most presenters (Miranda Krestovnikov & Hurricane in London ) but no she will not be high on a list for this program with C4 as she mostly works for the BBC.

Forgot to say I think Miss Humble is grossly over-exposed on BBC at the mo' - Rough Science, Nature prog with Bill Oddie, Longleat prog with Ben Fogle and this new Africa prog that's on. She'll be reading the news or presenting a reality tv show next!
