I think it is probably best for me to type this now as later on I may not be able to for one reason or another.

There is no evidence for there being a Druidic stronghold on that Island.

(Should have waited to see the programme first) Big Grin

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence....

Ok, I'll get my coat.

I think I missed the druids..

Goodness, didn't they work hard and dig deep on this dig, and it seems rewarded with some small post holes. Well done Francis on being so tenacious, it payed off in the end...

Loved the views of Anglesey, not so sure about the archaeology, but all in all a very watchable programme. Some pics can be found on the Tony website, the aerials are lovely ( if I do say so myself) Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

So did I ... but I could have done with a lot less shots of the wind farm blades ... and that's from someone who quite likes the look of a wind farm! Razz

first episode of the current serie sive managed to see as im usually off around the country trying to be sporty on a sunday.
It was a decent watch even though i always had the feeling that they were very unlikely to find any evidence of druidic activity or presence

Very nice little moment from Stewert Ainsworth in this one when he was emphasising the importance of how archaeological sites are in relation to the surrounding landscape Smile

I know they've mentioned it before on more then one occasion but it's still nice for people to be gently reminded that it's not exclusively about artifacts or small walls Wink

pretty terrible I thought.

no evidence added up to fit a pre-determined answer

Well, I didn't think they were going to find anything apart from the couple of grotty coins at one stage. The cropmarks looked so good at the start, but I suppose this is another one of those programmes that show how unpredictable archaeology is.

I was disappointed it didn't show John's reaction when Stewart's trenches found the ditches that didn't show up on geofizz!

Had to confess - I dozed off for a bit during day 2 Red Face (well, I did have a stinking headache!). Can't say from what I saw that it was anything much more than an excuse for building a wickerman (perhaps they should have soaked the branches/twigs first? Confused). Not my favourite prog in the series so far.

I'd looked forward to this one -but very misleading title!

We were assured that the druids were the academic masters of the time -but that was that -we were assured -nothing really to back it up. The wicker man did not add to my understanding. Obviously the archeology cannot be guaranteed that is what the programme is for, to find evidence, but could it not have been called -Earthworks on Anglesey?

I have never visited Anglesey and so that was a bonus.

Sorry I was disappointed.

I agree with most of you.
Not the best in the series.
I found some of it a bit sketchy, almost as if they were coming to a lot of conclusions from very little evidence?

Onwards & Sidewards??

Unfortunately this is TV so they will always go for the dramatic title!

The guy from the National Museum of wales did get very defensive when Tony did his devil's advocate bit and suggested that we didn't know much about the Druids.

Yeah I noticed that... but he did not really expand on how we do know.. apart from a few mutters about having poets in wales... ergo... we are druids... er...ah... yes...

So can anyone show a direct link from Iron Age Druids to the present...?
