Btw welcome wc. Big Grin

I'm assuming from your post you are from America. Can I ask what does wc stand for? Your initials maybe? Just thought i'd ask before anyone on here decides to do a toilet joke..don't worry we are a friendly lot. Wink

Done a bit more looking, series 4. If memory serves me right it was about the settlers there. Also I remember something about teeth and pipes. Fraid one of the one's that is missing from my video collection!

Just had a thought sniffy - was the settlers prog (with pipes and teeth) you're thinking of that different show presented by Mark Horton??
They were looking for one of the first outposts in the new world or summat of that ilk.
In a jungle.
Musketballs come to mind.
Of course I may be completely off track....

I'm sure it was the Maryland one, just been looking to see if I had a copy of the series 4 site reports but I don't. Do have two copies of the 1999 series though for some reason! It has a small reference about earlier digs and mentions the merchants house they were looking at Maryland.

I know they were looking at two types of people at Maryland, and from the dig they worked out which were the newcommers and the locals from the diet they ate...Tone mentioned that last night...think he mentioned the pipes as well wearing the teeth away but he talked about a lot so couldn't be 100%!

I seem to remember TT doing a dig on an old Indian site in Miami, Florida. But I cannot remember if I saw it here or in the US.

Time Team Series IV:
Maryland, USA, first broadcast 5 January 1997 (recorded 17-19 May 1996)

Plus the Montana Special:

2001 TT Dino special

I don't quite remember the Maryland programme - like everyone else, it seems to blur in with some MTA programmes Confused!

I remember that a comparison was made between European and US digs, they taking things much more carefully as they have less to go at.

Yep I remember that bit as well. Did they get in a bit of a 'arguement' about it? American Archaeologists being to slow as they sieved every bit of soil?

I've been searching for any references to the Maryland program, no real luck so far but did come across this on an American forum relating to TT.

'they are such a delightful bunch of English eccentrics.
It is really a quintessential English program. I cannot imagine any other country in the world being able to assemble such a cast of characters and make them and the rather academic subject matter into a watchable, enjoyable and educational show.'

Is the Maryland programme the one where Stuart was looking for a Fort and they located the Governor's Mansion?

Wasn't the fort the Nevis program? Or was they looking for a fort at Maryland as well?
