Hi all. I'm a new member. Has Time Team ever done any episodes in the U.S.? I know we don't have anchient Roman sites etc but we do have our Civil War battlefields. wc
I'm assuming from your post you are from America. Can I ask what does wc stand for? Your initials maybe? Just thought i'd ask before anyone on here decides to do a toilet joke..don't worry we are a friendly lot.
Done a bit more looking, series 4. If memory serves me right it was about the settlers there. Also I remember something about teeth and pipes. Fraid one of the one's that is missing from my video collection!

If that was the rhombus shaped fort one I remember that. The bit about pipes and teeth rings a bell but not sure if it was this one too?? TT did a dinosaur dig in the States didn't they?? I think it was a special with just Phil and TR in it iirc
Forgot about the Dinosaur one, I do have that on tape somewhere. Christmas special of somesorts if I remember right as I had to run back from my neighbours a little worse for wear after a tipple or two as I had forgot to set the video.
Just had a thought sniffy - was the settlers prog (with pipes and teeth) you're thinking of that different show presented by Mark Horton?? They were looking for one of the first outposts in the new world or summat of that ilk. In a jungle. Musketballs come to mind. Of course I may be completely off track....
I'm sure it was the Maryland one, just been looking to see if I had a copy of the series 4 site reports but I don't. Do have two copies of the 1999 series though for some reason! It has a small reference about earlier digs and mentions the merchants house they were looking at Maryland.

I know they were looking at two types of people at Maryland, and from the dig they worked out which were the newcommers and the locals from the diet they ate...Tone mentioned that last night...think he mentioned the pipes as well wearing the teeth away but he talked about a lot so couldn't be 100%!

Ron.
I'm sure that was a Meet The Ancestors programme ?

Yep I remember that bit as well. Did they get in a bit of a 'arguement' about it? American Archaeologists being to slow as they sieved every bit of soil?
I've been searching for any references to the Maryland program, no real luck so far but did come across this on an American forum relating to TT.
'they are such a delightful bunch of English eccentrics. It is really a quintessential English program. I cannot imagine any other country in the world being able to assemble such a cast of characters and make them and the rather academic subject matter into a watchable, enjoyable and educational show.'
