I understand that a Time Team program found a person I think now livening in Australia, who may have a claim to the English throne although he has no intention of following it up. His family name is Hastings, a name I am investigating as I live in Norfolk where the Astley family had a seat. They hold the title Baron Hastings, now 23rd Baron. Can anyone help with any information at all? i.e. date of transmission, any way to get a copy etc?
There was a programme on a few years ago. I think the 'claimant' or heir-general of the Duke of Clarence is the Earl of Loudoun.
If I remember corectly the claim that Clarence's elder brother Edward IV was illegitimate was tenuous at best. An archer by the name of Braybourne was allegedly his father, the King being conceived while his real father, the Duke of York was on military service in France, while his mother was left at Rouen. \the film did not allow for the possibility/probability of York returning back and forth from the 'front' for connubial visits to his wife.
Also, Clarence and Edward IV resembled each other quite closely.
Thank you for all the information. Looks as if I have just missed the repeat but I now have at least some of the information I need. I can now add this to the rest of my research.
