I don't doubt for a single moment that this thread will be here at the end of today, and I'll probably be banned...

What on earth are those stupid little beanies wandering across my screen? If CH4 think that they will make me want to renew my contract with Orange, they are having the complete OPPOSITE effect! Get 'em OFF!!!!!

Pop-up blocker is not blocking them, so shan't bother coming here until they are "Tango'd" off the face of the internet.

You'll find me in the friendlier and ad-free place....

I haven't got them. Perhaps Norton isn't so bad after all.

It also helps if you aren't using Internet Explorer.

Hmm. given recent problems i've had with Norton products, I'm almost tempted to say I'd rather put up with the popup ads.

And I'm using Firefox instead of IE and it's not making a blind bit of difference, sadly Frown

Popups get blocked by Firefox 2.0 - I get a note saying a popup has been blocked and do I want to see it,

I also have the adblock extension for annoying ads - google style ads tend to get left as the rather odd things thet think are relevant can be quite amusing.

Version 2.0 here as well.

Where did it come from? Mozilla, I guess.

Unless they are using a unique version numbering system, I wouldn't be so sure. Roll Eyes#

That's strange.
I have now found the page to update to Version 2.0
But when I did a check for updates, it didn't find it. Firefox normally updates automatically.

I occasionally get pop ups -but found Norton mucked up my machine (as did others of my acquaintence)

Try Avast - free if used privately - great service and very effective.

(Am I allowed to say that? Guess it will get stopped if I am not))

Ah another Norton victim! My sympathies, Ann, that wretched programme did nasty things to the registries of my old laptop, causing it to crash
repeatedly everytime I connected it to the internet.

Incidently, the little orange creepy people seem to be absent thus far today. I doubt if C4 forums have bothered to listen to anyone's complaints though, so my version of IE on the work machines is maybe able to block them Santa

Chris - I haven't had any popups on here since upgrading to IE7. The XP blocker and Yahoo blocker are also turned on.

I was having a problem with them on here a couple of weeks ago so maybe it is the IE7...?

Could be Jenni. I've got IE7 at home now, but am gradually migrating everything over to Firefox (more secure if your shopping online, plus a lot smoother to use) and TTF was one of the first to be transfered because it's so slow and clunky.

Work still has IE6 and we are forbidden from even ATTEMPTING to download the new version FrownLocal Government IT support, for you Roll Eyes)

We use avast too - highly recommend it. (We switched after Norton failed to protect us once, with catastrophic results....)

How would I find out if I'm running IE6?

Click on the help button (question mark) and then select "about IE" (last option). Anyway you are better off with Firefox and the adblock extension.
