Hi ooban, no didnt get to the site. Found out after its dug!I think i will see if there are any local groups i could join. Any one know of any in the south Bucks area?
I do a lot of lurking these days, partly because I'm short on time and partly because I feel a bit alienated from archaeology these days (I wonder why). I have a form for the Leighton Buzzard & District Archaeological Society in front of me and maybe it's time to shift my armchair activity into the local group. Anyhow, welcome to all newbies and happy Imbolc.
Hmm, compared to some of the forums I post on,I've never found this place particularly scary really, not even in the old unregistered days when you could adopt whatever nomenclature you wanted to and get up to all kinds of mischief.
It's not the flaming aspect that I found scary. It's just that with some sites you're afraid to ask a question for fear of sounding stupid more than anything - filled with professionals and afficienados who treat anyone "less" with contempt, can't take a joke, and are unwilling or unable to share their experience/knowledge with mortals!

Thats the exact reason i "lurked" for a while but so far everyone on this forum has been great. The topics are varied and the discussions are sensible.Everyone is really helpful. I look forward to logging on every day.
Hello everyone. I,ve lurked for 1 night and my lurking has come to an end. it is daunting to ask questions on stuff thats not yr thing and i too am probably going to ask dim questions like "do that screw up clockwise" but did the clock come before the screw? woo im in way over my head gonna go speak to you all soon , have a groovy nite.Johnny
The spring has sprung , the grass has ris, i wonder where the birdies is ?
Sounds like a lot of our lives. But I wonder if any of the worlds greats ever thought they were going to contribute anything meaningful before they actually did??
I guess if this post is anything to go by, I am also waiting to post anything meaningful.
