This is possibly one of the oddest rumours about Time Team I've ever come across, but a number of people on the Outpost Gallifrey forum are claiming that Time Team are going to be guesting in the next series of Doctor Who.(can't link to it, sorry)
Apparently the Team will be doing a dig at Torchwood House, a fictional country mansion which gives its name to the spinoff series, currently filming in Cardiff.
Now, I'm sure this is a right load of old codswallop but I wonder. Is there anything that any passing members of TT's production crew would care to share.....
As a Doctor Who (and Time Team obviously) fan, I have to say this is a new one on me. It could be that I've missed something, or it could just be something started by a rogue fan (we do get 'em!).
For example, the recent relaunch (when Chris Eccleston was still the Doctor) was supposed to feature a story with Audrey Tatu as Joan of Arc. Needless to say, this story never materialised (pun intended).
One or two forum regulars even wrote scripts for combining Time Team with Discworld and other Sci-fi classics. I must check with Mike Lowndes to see if he still has those gems from the former, unregulated forum. Chief Archivist Jean Manco might have kept some. Mary-in-Madrid, where are you ?
An archaeological dig featured on Dr Who in the Pertwee story The Daemons. It seemed to be inspired by the Silbury Hill dig which was ongoing a the time. Needless to say the diggers unearthed something evil and really nasty.

Grime Team 2 also had Dr Who links, but I think you missed out on that one.
As far as i can see there is still no precise date for showing the new 13-part series 'Torchwood', although it is definitely in the schedules, set for 'late autumn', according to the BBC, and currently being filmed in Cardiff.
Producer Russell Davies has described it thus: 'It's dark, wild and sexy, it's 'The X-Files' meets 'This Life'. It's a stand-alone series for adult audiences which will have its own unique identity.'

Phil's old boots...
Plus the 1989 Story Battlefield, featured an archaeologist who had uncovered Excaliburs scabbard. I'm fairly convinced they must have filmed it on an actual archaeological evaluation, the trenches looked scruffy enough
The spinoff novels also contained a travelling companion called Bernice Summerfield, who was an incredibly accurate portrayal of a female archaeologist of my acquaintaince- she liked her drink and her men!
Latest, extremely unofficial on the Torchwood debut is October 21st, at 9pm, BBC1 with Ep 2 being broadcast immediately after on BBC3.
It is a lot more adult in nature then Doctor Who, hence the later timeslot.

It will be the saviour of BBC3 according to local actors
This Life was a mid nineties drama focused around a houseful of five twentysomething lawyers and their various personal relationships at home and work. Lots of hand held camera angle stuff and a fair smattering of swearing, naughty goings on and nudity.

It also namechecked Sutton Hoo, saying that the finds would be 'more important'!
Doctor Who has often had a connection with archaeology, past, present or future.
I spoke with my brother last night who is working on Torchwood (has been throughout the entire filming) - There's no storyline involving TT at all - theres a plotline involving something being found on a building site thats a means of transporting convicts by aliens, but he said that unless the second unit had filmed something he was unaware of (and he thought that was unlikely...)

I'm 'ere Mandy. So nice to be remembered! And I have *nothing* of my stuff. [1] It all went up the swanny when a previous computer went Foom.
I'd think any Time Team appearance in Who would likely only be a blink and you miss it cameo. Mind you, Who linked to a.n. other archaeology dig, although rather Quatermass (like, well like Who!), seems quite feasible.
From what I see on OG info on season 3 is proving much harder to come by than previous years though...

[1] Shameless plug: I do though have a series of Madrid-based short stories on the go. Anyone fancying a read - all opinions welcome - can get in touch via another place.
Would you like to help me learn to write?
Creatively, I mean.
Email me right now at madrid.stories@gmail.com and I'll send you something (+/- 7000 words) you can give me an opinion on - and maybe enjoy if I'm lucky!

Russel T Davis is of the opinion that they released slightly too much info, prior to the start of Season Two so they're holding back on it a bit this year so as to try and preserve the surprise factor.
OG, incidently, is not going to be around for much longer. They're keeping the forum though. (and if anyone thinks people here are a touch obsessed, you should look in on that place. )
Just after I'd watched part two tonight, I turned over to UK Gold and they were showing Dr Who. It was the episode where at the end "Queen Victoria" conceived the idea of setting up the Torchwood institute,
