It seems that a great deal of information that could possibly be the starting point of discussions on this forum get posted on the aforementioned thread and are forgotten. Madoc has been doing great work as a one man newsfeed, but couldn't these items be posted as new threads? This place is on its last legs it seems and I don't think the 'stickys' at the top are helping.
Point well made, I've been posting so much as I'm stuck in front of PC all day while off sick. Be nice to get some discussions going with input from more knowledgeable posters. I'll see what I can come up with Steffan. Any ideas how we can drum up a bit more life around here without getting so lively that the phantom deleters are summoned. Bottom line... Use it or lose it! I restarted the news thread (yep thats my other non dee plum) to get news from those in the know, its a shame that so few people seem to be posting there. Ok, me being up at the crack of dawn every morning and scouring the news may be preempting others. How about a more regional approach or period based?
Go he went, to put his foot where never before a foot was put.
I remember there were criticisms of the regional threads in the same way. (MLH, if my memory serves me). I have started to agree to an extent. Anything Welsh tended to go into the Siluria thread, for example.
I'm not sure that categorising would help much more, Madoc. I think if you have seen a news item that might provoke some response from the forum, then it should really merit its own thread.
Since my original post seems to have dissapeared, mysteriously.
I agree, I think that it might liven the forum up a bit if casual readers can actually see individual topics that they can contribute too, rather then having to plough through a single thread, which doesn't really encourage discussion in case it wanders too far off topic.
Unfortunatly, this forum does rather resemble a message board belonging to a virtually moribund local society. (That was not a derogatory comment, just an observation.)
Madoc -I enjoy your information posts because I read up the info on most of them which often sets me off researching something else.
However if you wish to discuss some point post your view. I don't know about this forum but I was part of a Church Times one at one stage (only because I violently disagreed with one of the points made) and the opinions posted there were outrageous until the whole thing was closed down. One bloke obviously had sexual hang ups! Not on Channel Four Time Team -far too well behaved. The deleters will not have any reason to delete.
Sorry you are sick -obviously it doesn't affect your mental abilities for which we are thankful!

Or how about pointing everyone in the direction of archaeological news feeds? Saves a lot of searching having the news delivered direct to your pc.
