There is now a new section on the Time Team website for schools use. Designed to accompany the TT Digs: A History of Britain DVD, it includes a range of materials, including downloadable resource sheets for use in the classroom or at home. It is all available free of charge for educational purposes.
Anything that encourages interest in history in schools should be supported. If it brings in a more young fans for TT and prolongs the life of the series then so much the better.
Excellent! I shall have a good gander when the paperwork lets up enough for me to have time...!!
Seriously, Fil, take great encouragement, as I do, from the fact that a show of hands in my class of 32 7-9 year-olds reveals that a fair few of them watch TT already!
It's great to see that Time Team is now even more school friendly. It could prove a great tool for use within the classroom, especially as it will be familiar with many of them already
Will there be an information pack or worksheets to accomapny specific episodes aimed at particular Key Stages?
As a teacher myself, I can say that this would make the use of the dvd even more appealing to teaching staff of all ages. Having the resources in place saves us a lot of time and effort if they are good!
Anyway, it's great to see school involvement. Excellent news!
The PAS resources are good, but they are still failing to address the Curricula of Wales and Scotland. This was mentioned ages ago on Britarch, but it still seems to think that Anglo-Saxon society is applicable to all the UK.
