Some peeps might not have been following the Time Team is not Closing thread, so won't realise that after today we won't have the gracious company and deft hand of Steve Platt (splatty) to guide and nurture this forum.
If you've not yet said your goodbyes (privately or publicly), this might just be your last chance to do so.
"Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you've got till it's gone...... (they) pave paradise, & put up a parking lot"
OK, sad to see you go from this jerk water town but now there is NOTHING stopping you going to a TTFF meeting. But if i was you i'd leve the car as your going to be mullered with all the free booze
I find the announcement of your departure very sad. You have been an inspiration to us all(with the exeption of football! ). I first debated with you the merits of Imperial V Metric, that was in the days of F1.(If my memory serves me right, you lost that one! However, none of us want this to be 'goodbye', not even 'aur revoir' Therefore, what is to stop you coming on here as a private individual, conversing, expressing your views and imparting the knowledge that we frequently seek?. You are amongst friends, a commodity One cannot afford to discard. In the meantime. Good luck Steve, maybe we'll bump into each other on the 'Kop'!. Also , on here,I hope to converse with you regardless.
hi Steve, thought I would say goodbye and good luck in this thread as well as in the "TTF not closing (after all)" thread since I've not been around much in recent times (with my infinite calm and rationality - lol).
There's always a beer for you waiting in the Hercules if yer ever about those parts ~ slurp
- talking of which, there's a darned moated site under the city concrete around there - now I wonder what could be... ...nah not possible
btw: I'm registered in 'another place' under my Dorset monnicker. See you around and hopefully next TT season.
Farewell Steve. Sorry you're leaving us, at least in your present capacity. Your light touch on the helm has played a large part in making this forum a success. I hope we'll welcome you in another capacity, either here or elsewhere, and don't forget to join us on one of our meets.
Goodbye Steve from someone who's been around from the beginning. Not often these days but so long and thanks for all the links! Cheers, Andy (Megalithic Portal)
(And it feels very strange looking in here without having to read everything!)
There's a Big Roman Dig forum opening shortly, so I expect I'll see most of you there. In the meantime this is going to take up a lot of my time over the next month:
