The Dinnington Dig is rapidly approaching - an exciting time for the residents of Dinnington and local villages. I live in a local village and have been approached to provide catering facilities for visitors to the site and to help raise money for the Dinnington Church fund. Are you able to guide me on the number of visitors we should expect over the course of the dig. All help and advice much appreciated.
I don't think anyone would be able give you an exact idea of numbers but if this is one of the digs that is going to have any of the Time Team bods on it you might have quite a few people on your hands especially if the weathers nice.
I'm just SO excited! Always thought you wouldn't be able to resist the temptation to come back. Can't wait to be reunited with those fantasic mosaics - it'll be like seeing old friends again. Talking of which, saw Henry on Monday night - it was brilliant to see him - and we're really looking forward to meeting up with everyone else again.
I'm so happy that Dad's going to get to see more of what's there. He's the one who discovered it first in the dry Summer of '76. He was driving the combine harvester through the wheat, and saw these rectagular markings in the crop, which he guessed must be rooms.......
Dinnington is ready and waiting......Dad's message to any visitors is to please donate generously - all funds raised will go to the maintenance of our little village church. The Pub - The Docks - is a proper village pub, serving excellent food and local ales - well worth a visit.
