Hi, I am looking for Archaelogical projects that might allow me to come and assist with my screaming box of witchcraft. Specially adapted trousers with pockets removed! I spent last summer on the Durrington Walls project which was extremely educational but in limited need of a detectorist in term of Era of interest. Willing to travel to most places and can fend for myself financially. Give a detectorist a chance to break the stereotypes today! Lee

I recommend a gander at the Council for British archeology's webpages. There's a fairly comprehensive guide to the archaeological organisations throughout Britain, both voluntary and profesional and hopefully you'll be able to find an organisation in your immediate area that'll be able to let you come and help out on their projects.
Buit do bear in mind, Professional field archaeological units cannot always take volounteers, due to a variety of reasons, so if they do say no, don't take it as them being a bit funny about metal detectorists.
