I'm not doing any digging for the forseeable future, so I'll be confining myself to researching a little-known water mill near home (Saltburn-by-the-Sea) . Another one close by (Marske Mill) was extensively excavated some years back, but almost nothing seems to be known about Saltburn Mill. The sole visible remains amount to a few courses of stone wall in which are the remains of a doorway, but hopefully I'll be able to trace the course of the old mill-race.

Dunno why either Phil - it is the wrong thread as it doesn't have the 20 odd pages of the original. See the other one I rescued a few days ago.

I can see I'm going to have to post more regularly here, as I can't trust people to do the housework.... tsk tsk...lol
