I loved Sooty! The Sooty show was my favourite, when Matthew was the presenter. My mum met Harry Corbett (Matthew's dad) when she was young and had her photo taken with him, Sooty and Sweep! She had the original Sooty and Sweep puppets too. I was given them as a child but tried to wash them and they kind of died!! One of the kids I teach brought in a dvd at the end of term of the new Sooty Show. I got all excited about it (my class thought I was bonkers), then nearly cried when I saw how much it'd changed! There was a strange man presenting, they lived in a different house, and there were lots of odd little animals!
I'm really glad someone remembered this! I feel all nostalgic now!

Big Grin yeah sooty was best with matthew. i loved that house they lived in and sooty, sweep and soo's bedroom. i'm also glad other people loved sooty. i think things started going downhill when they started with Sooty and Company, and they opened that shop. things were always best when it was just matthew, sooty, sweep and soo (with the occasional visit from cousin scampi).

i also remember one of their great songs Bald can be beautiful (lol). and others like sticky situation, blame it on scampi (i still sing that now sometimes when everything is going wrong Red Face )

I loved the show but was never overly keen on Sooty himself. I adored Sweep however and have to confess to actually owning a dvd of "Sweep: Superdog", despite being 34!

^^ i have this theory that all teh "cool" kids liked sweep better, because if the show started nowadays i would like sweep the most too. but kids tend to go for the hero. but sweep was so adorable the way he always got everything wrong.
i remember before i got the sooty puppet for my birthday thinking that if i got the puppet he would actually whisper in my ear and i wondered why he sounded like. i really really thought he was real.

Sooty was good, but Sweep was my favourite - those little squeaks really meant something back then! Big Grin

yeah I loved sooty as a child with Harry Corbett and then my own kids watched Sooty with his son Matthew in charge. I am aware that somebody else took over after Matthew and they even made a cartoon out of it. I even had a Sooty puppet as a child and just had to get my kids Sooty and Sweep puppets - happy days

I liked the show but I wasn't that keen on Sooty. I loved Sweep, he was so funny and that little squeeky noise he made was so cute. I'm smiling just thinking about it.
