I remember watching this at primary school too. My fave one was the one set during the 2nd world war (or just after it). Can't remember the theme tune now but used to love it, quite catchy.

Loved that, used to watch at school. World War II one sticks in my mind, every time I see the actress that played Mum I'm reminded of it, wish I could remember her name. For some reason one thing that I remember from it was the eldest daughter getting nits and having to have her long hair cut.

The Industrial revolution ones were always sad - I remember my class went to Blackheath and w all went dressed in the nearest thing we could get to victorian clothes: Plaits, long dresses, baker-boy caps, waistcoats - it was pretty fun

I always remember in the World War II one all the characters used to say ''Don't you know there's a war on?'' This show was so good, it even had its own catchphrase

I think I remember that one, did the toff child give the guttersnipe his gingerbread man and he didn't say thank you? By the way I live in Blackheath and we all still dress like that all the time.

I just had to revive this topic. I have only just started to use these forums and I had to reply. I so remember this programme. I also watched it at school, the victorian and the WW2 stuff. I left primary in spring of 1969. What other programmes did you watch / listen to at school as part of the curriculum? I remember Time Tune and Rhythm on the radio, we all had to follow the song books and try to play and sing along. We made the usual maraccas out of tins filled with dried rice etc and sticks with grooves in which we would then run a ruler over to produce a sort of "cricket" type noise. Also a science programme with experiments that the teacher did after the programme, a Mr Cholmondly-Walker type used to do it and a French programme called "Le Francais Au Jourduis" sorry for the spelling but I didn't pay enough attention!

I watched the WWII one in primary school. I remember we used to go back to the classroom to fill in a work book on the series after we watched it.
