Yes. Children used to be able to actually run around on the road where I lived. At the summer holidays we stayed out all day playing rounders, hide and seek doublers (skipping), cowboys and Indians and of course made up our own games.
me and my sister use to write down all the car number plates and colours! another great game our parents made us do! but looing but we hardly use to get none and soon gave up it was really boring! if i told my daughterto play this great really interesting game she would look at me gone out! ha ha
We used to play tennis, football, cricket, rollerskating etc. on my childhood road. You would get a few cars during peak commute times. then really only the odd tractor and horses and car during the rest of the day. Now it's a different story....cars all day with boomboom loud music, doing 50MPH, more tractors, delivery drivers, motorbikes, kids on motorised scooters, buggy's....oh how times change.
