It was an advert that scared me lol.

A public information film from 1973 called "LONELY WATER"

Where the Grim Reaper was watching these kids playing near an old pond full of rubbish.

You can download it from here....

I remember that well. It seemed to follow the 70's maxim, If you scare the cr@p out of kids, they won't do it.

When I was little it would have to be The Incredible Hulk - except the end when I thought the closing music was really sad.

Also, as much as I loved the programme I found the theme tune to Black Beauty a bit unnerving!

Ah, well, I've never really been freaked out by TV shows (lived around actors, writers, other people who worked there all the time)...
But a movie freaked us all out (three sisters)
The Legend of Hellhouse.
Now, this movie was, I think, and American movie from like the late '60's, or early '70's.
A group of different 'psychic' and 'science' people go to Hellhouse to see what's going on there.
Anything with Roddy McDowell HAS to be good!
There are some very scary violent parts, a dead cat in the shower (not nice)...etc.etc.etc.
It terrified us!
Until one day....we were older, I think about 15 or so....
When it dawned on us WHY this guy was killing people.
Now, if you've not seen this movie,ok,it would take much longer to describe the baddie who was found dead and was wreaking havoc upon those who DARED enter his house.
But, just let me tell you this, when we finally realised why he was killing people, even after death....it just KILLED the movie, it went from scary, or funny.
He killed people because he was SHORT.
Sigh....and another movie bought the dust.
tragic,really...just tragic.
Smile

Loads of telly stuff freaked me out as a kid. The Open University theme tune, certain newscasters, an old Safety Information Video with a kid with a balloon getting run over. There was a clown in it as well for some reason, presumably using;

quote:
the 70's maxim, If you scare the cr@p out of kids, they won't do it.

There was also a short series called 'The Thin Man' on in the morning that was totally terrifying. And, of course, Mr Noseybonk from 'Jigsaw', just hearing the accompanying music ("A Hippo Called Hubert") would (still) make me cr@p myself.

I think it was called Ghost Watch or something. I never saw it though.

One programme I was scared of was 'Strange But True' and I remember when I was at primary school watching it - one ep scared me (I didn't usually watch it). Basically this poltergeist terroring this house - two young kids in bedroom and this rocking chair rocking by itself. Mother went next door with them and phoned police, but real scary thing was what occured after break. In this hotel, these builders were in the roof space and found this cupboard type thing set in the wall, so they opened it and nothing was in it, but then it showed various staff talking about their experiences. Eg. one woman woke up to find she couldn't move her legs, when she switched on bedside light the shadow of a woman reflected on the wall from the bottom of the bed - someone sat on it (and her legs - hence she couldn't move them). Also one manager woman said she heard someone going up stairs above her even though she was on top floor. Other stuff, someone said they woke in night and heard crying so ran out of their room, and when they returned the light was on. That kinda freaked me out, but it was good and would love to watch them again.

There used to be a programme about nurses, called Angels. I guess this was in the early 80's? There was one episode in which one of the ambulance drivers had to lie under a train to rescue someone who had fallen under it; he had to hold their limbs in while they slowly rolled the train back. One of the nurses was on the platform watching, and she was his girlfriend.

This may not sound overly scary, but I used to have nightmares about being run over by trains when I was younger, I can still vividly remember them and I'm 30! So this episode REALLY freaked me out, and I would make myself petrified thinging about it!

I love Teddy!
