I was born in 1972 and found this post to be extraordinarily patronising. May I remove your rose tinted glasses and remind you that todays youth's are educated about the realities of sexual discrepancy. When I was reaching an age of sexual urge we were told that unles we used a condom we would die. No such knowedge of H.I.V we weret old that AIDS would basically get us in the end. No video games? Commodore 64 and Vic 20's were in most households and video game parlours were prevelant in most cities and towns. I have never owned a mobile phone yet if I were to have a teenage son or daughter I would feel safe with the knowledge that I could contact them if need be. I think that your post was well intentioned but each generation feels the same. People born in 1986 will reflect and miss their childhood the same way that we do.

If I knew what patronising meant I could probably respond better However, everybodys youth is singularly important to them, and the post did say for all those born before 1986. I would think this probably referred to those born circa 1963 quote: May I remove your rose tinted glasses and remind you that todays youth's are educated about the realities of sexual discrepancy.
Todays youth are also educated that parents, teachers, policemen and generally speaking, all adults, cant touch them, cant discipline them, cant tell them what to do either. Which is all fine except when it comes down to it, when they want something, they expect it and sadly, usually get it. So if I am wearing rose tinted glasses then you should try putting on a pair so you can see what the generation of 1963 seem to see

Hear hear tws, don't fret pet, most of your replies have understood what you were saying, sadly, and obviously, some others are looking too deeply, just to think of a reply, instead of understanding what you were saying, and either agreeing, cos they had lived those times, or disagreeing cos they didn't, or have become bitter and twisted, maybe!! I loved your post TWS I remember doing all of what you said and more, I was born in '77 and i feel lucky i was able to use my imagination cause i look at the kids today and they don't seem to have half as much fun without having a mobile or the internet or stacks of video games and dvds. Yes consoles were about when we were young but we normally had just a few games that we played to death, i'll never forget the hours i spent on super mario or skool dayz lol. I was lucky and grew up in the country and we'd get up at the crack of dawn and go into the woods for hours not coming home till it was getting dark, no one worrying that anything had happened to us. Not that bad things never happened! If i had the chance i'd go back for a visit

So true, we would take a picnic, usually pork pie, or sarnies, drink, crisps, etc. walk a couple of miles, sit in a field, (probably private property, but we wouldn't have known!), and if it had a stream, we would catch tadpoles, or other great fun things, pick bluebells for mum etc. Heaven!
