There must have been something on Chass! Actually I remember when I was REALLY little, Emmerdale Farm used to be on in the daytime. (Actually, valid point ... Hardly worth bunking off for!! Big Grin )

aussie soaps rocked and took over from the american soaps---dallas, knots landing, flamingo road etc...

That's right they did! They were far more 'real' than the American stuff. Don't remember Flamingo Road, but I must admit to watching Dynasty and Dallas!!

Richmond Hill was another good aussie soap shame it did not last long

Richmond Hill was excellent and had all the makings of being a long running soap. However, because it didn't take off as well in Aus as it did here, the Aussie producers axed it. RH starred two major PCBH Actresses - Amanda Muggleton (Chriss Latham in PCBH) and Maggie Kirkpatrick (Joan 'The Freak' Ferguson in PCBH).
