Yeh ,me too ,I moved around quite a lot and I love the different accents and dialects , when I had my youngest son ,I took him to the pub I had worked In and my boss (who was from Yeovil ) said "Oohh hers lovely in her ? " I said "It,s a boy " and he said "yeh I know " lol but thats how they talk !!! when they want to know where something is they say " wheres it to ?"

Thanks for bringing this subject up Folks! I'm fascinated by accents too! As well as mfl, I also studied linguistics in my degree, and i did modules which covered accents.
In the 'Black Country' they say 'her' instead of 'she' and 'us' instead of 'we'. It's true about 'Birmingham - Brummies' and people also shorten Birmingham to 'Brum'.

Just had a thought I believe there is such a person as a accent anaylsis. Paul could have some people on his show and he could have to guess where they are from. Or perhaps pick on people in the audience. Get them to talk and he could guess and see if he got it right.
