Loved your poem ! Although as a smoker (I know I know ! ) it is really really hard to stop. Ive tried various methods from patches to someone sticking needles in me and so far nothing ! I think the only way to stop is just stopping and a lot of determination and people around you who will encourage you.

Hi Winnie, many thanks. I think you're absolutely right, and I'm sure that trying different things and keeping at it will work. Ironically, stressing about it means you're more likely to need a ciggie! so I'd try not to give yourself too hard a time, and I'm sure you'll manage it at the right time.

Hi Cat , yeh I would love a Birkenhader get together ! I go back about twice a year coz all my family are still there but have lost touch with mates from school , I wouldn,t want a school reunion or anything like that just a few chosen people (Paul of course ) and some old mates xx
Hi Winnie , well rather than go over old ground in too much detail (which seemed to upset a lot of people ) I didn,t acctually know Paul at school , It was he who remembered me and mentioned me by name in a newspaper article ,so I can,t answer your,e question,sorry xx

Great that you go back and visit. And, yes, if there were a few Birkenheaders on the forum, could be really cool to organise something some time ... plus the little honouraries too ... but maybe they have to pass a 'knowledge about Birkenhead' test first!
