Nearly 3000 people, including hundreds of fire fighters and the police who arrived to help, died or were presumed dead as a result of these terrible attacks.
I take my hat off to the bravery of the fire fighters who were going up into the towers as everyone else was going out and to relative safety - 343 fire fighters never came out again.
The Port Authority Police Department lost 37 people and the New York City Police lost 23 Officers!!!
I can't believe it's been 5 years already.
My heart and deepest sympathies go out to the families and friends of these poor people who lost there lives.
God Bless you all.
i couldn't have said it better myself jane... i was working in the pub on that day, and the tvs were always on - i would watch them whenever i could, hoping, along with everyone else, that they would bring more out alive..... - it was so devestating to watch - such a tragedy - what a waste of life....brings a tear to my eye thinking about it....take care everyone...Peace be with you.........xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

gosh! i saw some footage of the tower going down on calender at 6, it makes me so sad to see that. It also scares the life out of me aswell cos im terrified of flying and im going october 11th. I know that was America and im off to Spain but it still really scares me. I cant believe any one would want to cause so much trouble and destroy so many lives. My thoughts are with all the families who lost relatives and friends cos of this.

It's disgusting that people would make people make that sort of choice. I can't even begin to imagine what must have been going through their minds.
yes it does ! when i first saw the live footage I was having a drink in my local and it came on the telly , normally i would've stayed out but I was so upset I came home and just couldn't stop crying , when my son came in and asked me what was wrong I couldn't even tell him ! It took me a while before I could talk about it and I don't even have any relatives or friends involved.

i felt like that at the time too, and i was similar if felt numb, in shock - worse even - at the time of the london bombings - maybe because it was much closer to home.... on both occasions,i remember thinking - if only we could turn back time, stop it from happening - it was all i could think of...no real warning, no time to do anything,devestating...... everyone of those poor people have lost a son or a dughter, husband or wife, a mum or a dad, brother or sister etc....if only we could turn back time...

Words can't describe that day five years ago. I had come home and was asked if i had heard the news. When i saw the pictures of the plane hitting one of the towers, i was in shock thinking, i can't believe what i'm seeing.
The disturbing scenes on TV were just so upsetting. My thoughts are with the familes and friends of the thousands that lost their lives.
As Charlotte said the little girl speaking to her Dad who died, and the pictures of those killed is too upsetting. It was a day i will never forget.
All the emergency services could not be thanked enough for the work they did.
The whole world came together that day. It started as a normal day with people going to work that turned into the most tragic news story i have ever experienced.
i have just seen the movie for myself - i wish that i hadn't - it is sooooo heart breaking- i could just imagine so many little girls and boys out there saying the same thing to their daddies or mummies....too many....that did make me cry - for real...
