O'Grady to host Strictly?

PAUL O’GRADY could be on track for a major Brucie Bonus – by taking over as host of Strictly Come Dancing.

Bruce Forsyth has hinted he may hang up his well-worn tap shoes after the next series of the BBC1 show, when he’ll be pushing 82.

Beeb bosses are believed to be looking for replacements for the showbiz legend – and Lily Savage star Paul, 52, tops their wish list.

Our mole in the sequined ballgown told us: “Everyone round here knows Brucie can’t go on forever. Even he’s started dropping hints that the next series might be his last.

“Paul is a definite favourite and would be brilliant.”

Whether he’ll also do some dancing, like Brucie, is another matter. Paul has battled a string of health problems and was recently forced to take a couple of weeks off from his C4 chatshow because of a serious bout of flu.

Last week Paul said he feared fans thought he was DEAD.

That would be so good if Paul did host strictly come dancing, it would be amazing although he may have to wait until he finishes the chat show as it would probably be to much for him. Poor Paul thinking his fans thought that when he was ill, although we were pretty worried

That would be fantastic for Paul to host Strictly Come Dancing - but as you say, it may be better for him to wait until his chatshow ended - as I think Strictly clashes the same time as his chat show in the winter.

The first show is live - so that would definitely suit Paul - that is for sure - he would be a marvellous replacement for Brucie - can't think of anyone else who would be best for the job!

I agree poor Paul thinking of his fans at a time when he was ill - we were all worried about him.

They mentioned this on GMTV this mornin too, Ben Shepard seemed very happy with the suggestion he thinks it a great idea, n Vernon n Tess like the idea too!
Id love to see him do it! Although he's contracted to do his show until 2009 n we dnt no if that will be Christmas 2009 or whether he will end june 2009 like Richard n Judy have done with there contract.
Otherwise if he said yes to strictly n his shwo finished Christmas 2009 then he'd be doin his show Monday-wednesday and then Strictly live every saturday night!

Also on the sun website there is a picture of him in his casual clothes with Buster!

That would be great if Paul did take over from Bruce, but only if he got the all clear from the doctors to do it.

Thanks for posting about this Maria. I'd love it if Paul did take over as host of SCD, he'd be brilliant. I'm not going to get my hopes up too much yet though as so many things the Sun have printed about Paul before have turned out to be untrue. It would be excellent if it did happen though.

Don't know if he would or not, but i would defo watch it if he did!!!!!

Well I have to admit, I am not a fan of SCD, but definately watch it just to see Paul, Blimey the ratings will go sky high.

`Yeah he might but Paul won't do take over Bruce coz i think it's all aload of rubbish & that wot paul would say if he saw it ! so Don't Believe a word wot the papers say Not True....

Paul has said he likes the show so you never know he may do it we will just have to wait and see

As they say you never know - there was hype about Paul taking over from Michael Parkinson, - but I think that didn't happen - probably for obvious reasons!

If he does host SCD - I think he would be an excellent replacement for Brucie - it needs someone with quick wit on that programme - and Paul has bundles of that.

Of course his health does come first in any event.

I saw Pauls picture on GMTV this morning, but missed what was being said. So thankyou everybody for discussing it!

I love SCD and would love to see Paul doing it, providing it does'nt affect his health.

Yea would be great, n he does say he'd love to do strictly come dancin as a contestant if he could have Lilia as his partener so he is a fan of the show!
I think that there is sum truth in article Chilly, i no they do right sum rubbish, bt Bruce is 82 and so is proberly considerin nt presentin the show, n also it doesnt say Paul will be doin it, it just says he is the favourite n number one choice for takin over the role it doesnt say Paul has accepted so u never no!

yeah i remember Paul saying to Vernon and Tess that if he was to do it he would do it with her and everyone cracked up laughing coz it sounded rude lol typical paul!

I read about this in The Sun and it would be great if Paul presented it.

I'm wondering what would happen if he disagreed with the judges though Especially on live TV.

It's great that Paul is top of list that people want to do it.

I would say there would be some good banter - possibly an arguement or two if Paul didn't agree - he wouldn't hold back

As it is live on Saturday night - anything could happen.
