Im fascinated by accents and on my travels recently have met with lots of different people from lots of different areas ranging from Cornwall to County Durham. The one thing that I have found interesting is the names that people are called from different areas. We ve had one example of scousers on here and heres the only ones I know of, has anyone got any from there area.

I didnt realise that Geordies were only from a certain part either.

Hampshire; Hampshire hogs
Suffolk. The Tractor boys or Silly Suffolk
Cockney, East End of London, within the sound of Bow Bells.

but thats how they talk !!!
when they want to know where something is they say " wheres it to ?"

Thanks for bringing this subject up Folks!
I'm fascinated by accents too! As well as mfl, I also studied linguistics in my degree, and i did modules which covered accents.

In the 'Black Country' they say 'her' instead of 'she' and 'us' instead of 'we'. It's true about 'Birmingham - Brummies' and people also shorten Birmingham to 'Brum'.

Just had a thought I believe there is such a person as a accent anaylsis. Paul could have some people on his show and he could have to guess where they are from. Or perhaps pick on people in the audience. Get them to talk and he could guess and see if he got it right.

Hi Monica. I think i've picked up some of those examples of your dialect e.g. 'lecy' from the pog show, although i do still say sandwiches!
