TOP Gear star Richard Hammond is being lined up to replace Richard and Judy when the telly duo quit next year.

Pint-sized Hamster, 37, is in talks with bosses about the job – his first major new show since the 288mph crash that nearly killed him last year.

We revealed yesterday how Richard and Judy are due to step down next summer.

The move came after it emerged C4 was unlikely to offer them a new deal.

Bosses want to try new shows at 5pm to run for the six months when Paul O'Grady is off air.

Hammond tried a 5pm programme for ITV in 2006 but lasted one series.

Thanks for posting this, but I'd still prefear Paul, anyway Richard Hammond is going to kill himself one of these days if he's not careful.

I'm quite surprised by this as I remember watching Richard Hammond's ITV show and it really wasn't that great tbh.

Yes, I remember that, and I thought it was a load of rubbish, Mind you, I am not a fan of "Hamster" Richard Hammond.

More Paul please, Preferably full time but with a week off here and there to safeguard his health, but somehow I dont think Paul would do full time tbh. Hope you are all well XXXX

I wouldn't want Paul on all the time, (don't man this in a horrible way), but Paul needs a break sometime, we don't want him having a "fatal" heart attack, now do we?

Didnt think much of the ITV series that he did. Hes far more suited to talking about fast cars than general topics.

My vote would go to Alan Titchmarsh, or Anthony Cotton.

You only have to read the article to realize what a disaster it would be. It lasted one series and if I remember rightly, it was terrible.

Though if it's on in the summer it won't matter. Lol

To be Really Honest Im not worried whose the Oppo to Paul. My Routine always tops to watch his prog and if not it gets taped.

I thought Alan did a good job earlier on. Hes been presenting for a very long time. I remember his days at Pebble one. Yes I agree Anthonys was a bit of a poorer version of Pauls show but I tend to warm to him. He had my dog on his show or rather a pic of her.

P.S. Hope everyone is well and keepng free of winter bugs.

I agree with what you've said Seaslug. Paul was away, and they both filled a little gap very well.

Nobody can replace our beloved Paul Valentine ... But at least their shows were entertaining & I'm sure, put a little smile on peoples faces while our Paul was away.
