Titchmarsh in talks with ITV

ITV is talking to Alan Titchmarsh about hosting his own chatshow.

The BBC presenter covered for Paul O'Grady on his new Channel 4 chat show last autumn, while O'Grady was recovering from a heart attack.

Titchmarsh's previous chat show ventures include presenting BBC One's Pebble Mill at One in the early 1990s.

ITV confirmed that it is talking about a recording a pilot show, but it is not known whether any would deal will impact upon his current BBC commitments.

As well as presenting How to Be a Gardener, The Gardener's Year and his own Radio 2 Sunday night show, Titchmarsh is currently in production with follow-up series of The British Isles: A Natural History for the BBC.

Well apparently he appeals to older ladies, but not me Im afraid although thought he did ok when standing in for Paul, but much rather see Paul.

I suppose in any case its got to be better than all the rest that they have put on so far. Esp Supermarket Sweep. I remember that first time round and thought it was a joke at first then.

He will never get more viewers than our Paul! My mum doesnt like titchmarsh anymore, she thinks he is on too much!! He is ok, but I wouldnt watch him!

My Mum likes him which is a problem. That's if this show even kicks off. They had Sharon, then Bradley Walsh, Antony Cotton now Alan Titchmarsh. Do they really need that many chatshows?

Didnt see Sharon's show, Bradley's has been pulled havent heard any more about Antony's, he'll prob be the next contender!! Like him in Corrie, but he wont beat Paul!

Maybe they can give him a lunchtime slot and get rid of them loose women, I am old enough to remember pebble mill and he was quite good on that.

I remember pebble mill, yes you're right, he was ok on that.

i agree that alan would be ok, but no where near as brilliant and FAB as Paul!!

If he's on against Paul, none of us will be watching! We love Paul!!

How True is That?!! look at the Sharon Osbourne show! i think that she is a great person...but her show is not a PATCH on Paul's...!

I know, she is nice, dont think her show was that good anyway, but no-one can compare to Paul! It's because he's so natural & funny.

Tell you what Boysmama, Please do make the most of them while they are still young, mine are 27 & 24, the eldest moved out 1st Dec 06, Boy oh boy, do I miss him
It seems just a short while ago when I was changing his nappies and putting him to bed etc!
