Just wondering if readers here would like to share information on where/when they play.
I've been playing online since the start of this year. I started at SportingOddsPoker and have dipped my toe into the massive Pacific Poker site as well. I've heard of people opening accounts with just about everyone in order to get bonuses and stuff, but also that the level of play and standard varies widely.
Anyhow, I've found that I'm ok playing small limit poker, Sit'n'go tournys up to about a $10 buy in, and I do ok in cheap multi tournaments as well.
Any info on the better sites to play for some banter with the Brits would be appreciated. If I'm totally honest about this, I'm a bit fed up with the fact that SportingOdds has been hijacked by Hungarians who insist on chatting in their language (despite the site rules!).
888 and party poker both had a good bunch of brits playing for a while, 8-2 sort of slots, but they seem to be few and far between now, have no idea why. what annoys me about the foriegn speakers, as found out by some people ive played with who understood, is that more often than not when they are in the majority they will use the brit as thier mark and take it in turns to rake the pots = plain & simple cheating.
recently ive been getting a few mates together at tables on 888 - pity taking money from those you know, but at least you can have a laugh!!
Bet 365 has a few brits some americans and lots of Swedes Norwegians etc but they are extremely strict on English being spoken. I havent been on it for about a year or so but Betfair used to be almost all brits
world poker exchange is good. theres plenty of tournaments, sit'n'go's and freerolls and nice format. Poker.com is good as well. Plenty of english people on WorldPokerExchange
Very good site but I find a lot of British players are on Pokerschool. They give free tournaments all the time and its a great way of trying to gain entry into the WSOP.
Another good site is JetsetPoker, not many Brits there but also some good free entry tournaments.
Party Poker is a very good site, standard of play is average, with a lot of U.S leisure players on there, with good bonuses aswell. However, I much prefer Ladbrokes, as the cashout is more or less instant, however the standard of play is higher. Plus, as an added bonus there is NO U.S players allowed !!!! Watch out for the scandinavians though, they're really good!!!
I am doing pretty good at $2 Sit and Go tournaments. I also play $1/$2 no limit holdem cash games and when I have bad streak of luck I love to regain poker confidence in freerolls:-)
u play $2 sit and go's and 1/2 NL cash?? strange ratio of stakes - i would suggest you need quite a large bank to sustain 1/2 cash games or you are playing the sit and gos as throwaways cos a sit and go lasts for an hour and only costs you $2 - totally different to 1/2 cash where you could do a ton in an hour no trouble
I know what you mean. I used to play $2 Sit and Go's when I had a bad streak of luck to regain confidence. And you were right as for the $1/$2 NLHE I moved down in stakes
