I thought the first episode was a bit of an anti-climax. The season 12 finale was one of the best episodes of the last 3 years - tv drama of the highest order. The S13 opener competently cleared up the cliffhangers of S12, but somehow lacked abit of ER magic. There were exciting things happening (murder, rape, Doctors battling to save Jerry, Abby etc) but perhaps there was too much going on. All the events & storylines were battling too much for our attention.
In the end Sam's storyline was a total waste of time. I'm not looking forward to the whole aftermath - Sam's got alot of explaining to do to her son & we'll see Sam struggle with what she's done.
My highlight: Nice touch for Kerry to come to the rescue again to save Abby & Luka. She did the same in All in the Family (S6) with Carter (if memory serves me correctly).
The theme tune: about the only thing the makers haven't mucked up yet - but it looks like they've finally got round to sorting that one out.
You can't all be brainwashed. That was not a great episode. 5 / 10.
Theme-tune -- Hate it. I miss seeing the characters in all their green, shadowy goodness.
Sam/Steve/Newlex -- I don't know why, but I kind of just didn't really care...Maybe that's because of my fairly bias view towards Abby and Luka but I just felt there was something missing. Good ending bit though, the three - possibly two, can't remember - resounding gun-shots was good. Glad they did it like that. (Although this didn't really have the same effect when Steve shot his two...er...people. I don't know why - I think I found it a bit hard to believe, to be honest.
Kerry -- Loved seeing her and was glad she was in this episode. I think there was a strong feeling that the ER doesn't really belong to her anymore yet she is still very much attached to the people inside. I liked that. I liked her and Luka and I especially liked the fact that she stayed with baby Joseph at the end. Although it could have been corny, the line 'he wont be (alone)' did it for me. Good stuff.
Jerry/Dubenko/Neela -- So relieved that Jerry is okay and it was nice to see Frank genuinely concerned and for once not very sarcastic. Absolutely loved seeing Dubenko in this episode because although he wasn't a main main part, it was lovely to see him there and lovely to see him part of the team. I loved - and thought it pretty amazing - how Neela saved the day and had to keep reminding myself that it had been Michael's funeral only hours, in ER time, before.
Abby/Luka/Joseph -- I cried. A lot. I think Maura and Goran did a fabulous job with this, I really do. I thought this aspect was perhaps the strongest part of the episode (again, could be my bias, of course) and that it was extremely well acted and very very emotive. I really felt Abby's pain when she realised there was no other option than having the hysterectomy and her desperation when she yelled at Luka to leave her and be with the baby. I think the scene between them, towards the end, was excellent. I think the writing of this was pretty good too -- the way in which Abby told Luka about the hysterectomy was very Abbyish, in my opinion, and good that it had been consistent. Luka's reaction was very very well composed and I loved the way in which, earlier on, smaller details such as the way he reached over to the other side of the gurney, or put his hand on her arm were lovely (partly because I'm a soppy romantic, perhaps?) and it just made them seem very coupley and together and for a small second, it was a happy ER. Also, I think the 'Mungo' line should get a mention -- that was priceless!
I don't think this was the best ER by any stretch of the imagination but I certainly don't think it was the worst either. There was some good stuff in there, in places, in my opinion.
The return of Sally Field looks a bit scary next week, though...
"One day my logic was proven wrong because the tide came in and gave me a sail"
the reson luka went nutts in the bathroom wasent because of the babys name was it? or just becuase of the general stress?
I assumed he went nuts cos of the whole hysterectomy thing. After all, he (& we) don't yet know if the baby'll survive (altho I'm assuming it will) This is now their one & only chance to have a kid together.
I thought those two actors GV & MT did rather well. The characters themselves don't handle emotion well, and the actors did a good job of portraying that. Good episode

Ok so last night's ep - I enjoyed it. For me it was poigniant. I felt sad for Abby and there were moments when I though tI might cry, especially when they were looknig through that hand held computer thing. But it also had humour, like when Neela suggested to Abby, they could compare who had the worst day and I loved the conversation between Pratt and Frank, I thought that was good. Don't really like the new theme tune, preffered the old one, but I enjoyed the episode. Good stuff.
"Never let your work become your life, Kerry. Live a little."
Personally I loved this episode. I really thought there was going to be a death, in the sense of the what happened in ER. Steve's death doesn't really count in my book, he deserved what he got.
I can see Sams reason for shooting him dead. She has had a turbulent life, constantly running away from Steve and the type of life he leads, all of which she didn't want for her son. Although by her actions, she has brought herself down to Steves level, she obviously felt she had no choice but to kill him. Had she not he would have kept on tracking her down.
I was overcome by flashbacks when Abby had the baby of when Carol too faced the dilemma of having to have a hysterectomy. I felt that small section of the storyline was recycled despite the outcome being different. I can see the possible options for the future storylines but IMO I felt there were other roads they could have gone dowm without having the hysterectomy storyline crop up again...rant over.
The reasons behind Abby's choice of name I felt was quite appropriate, and it made me cry, I thought it was very touching. I really felt for Luka, he obviously felt angered by the whole situation. When he broke the mirror my first thought was that he felt he was at fault for Abbey going into premature labour and the hysterectomy because he couldn't get to her in time. I hope there is to be at least some kind of happiness shone on this relationship.
Neela, she is a star, you can see her heading to be a top surgeon. One inkling and she saves the Jerry's life, she can scrub in on any operation I have to have any day! Great that Jerry survived, I was so pleased. Frank was great and so sympathetic. I loved how he was really concerned over his pal Jerry.
Looking forward to Maggie being back next week, and the new doc, although I doubt very much he will take the place of Luka in the hotness stakes!!!

Luca freaking out and smashing the mirror: maybe all the trauma with Abby and Joe, brought back memories of his family that were killed and he was so terrified at the thought of losing another child? Just my two cents...

Last year somebody called me a plank because I referred to the next weeks title in one of my posts.

Yes, it is a spoiler of sorts. Some people switch off before it is shown.
In future, could you give a spoiler warning before mentioning something that's coming up in a later episode. And DO NOT put ANYTHING about it in the title of a thread, as that is impossible to avoid.

I seem to remember that when I made that post it wasn't directed to anybody in particular, you simply chose to take it as a personal insult.
I also notice that I am not the only person to mention a spoiler in their post.
And for those whom I may have spoiled the storyline for, I do apologise for my genuine mistake. I will take extra care in future to not post any information I have seen regarding the following weeks episode shown at the end of the shows, unless I have posted it with a spoiler warning.

Personally, I loved it. Maybe 'Bloodline' didn't have the high energy tension and drama that the series 12 finale planned it would - but it was gripping all the same.
I'm so glad 'the big man' Jerry survived his brush with death. When Neela 'saved him' and she wasn't even in the field was a tad far fetched - how the hell she could have been thinking clearly when she'd just buried her husband is unbelievable - but she was and we're thankful to her!
Morris and Jerry's mom gave some much needed light relief to an intense and serious episode. For a moment I thought the actress was the same one who plays Marie in 'Everybody Loves Raymond' but I don't think it was. She was great anyway!
I think this was Goran and Maura at the peak of their powers in the show; and they have had some great moments. I totally believed everything they did. Every look, every touch was perfect. Even when Abby screamed her head off after the C-section - it was right. I must confess, I cried: That was the power of it. Coupled with the fantastic 'Slow Motion' by David Gray as the soundtrack to the pivotal scene.

I beleive Lydia found Carter and Lucy in exam 3 'that day' - but I could be wrong.
Loved Weaver last night. It does seem weird her not hobbling around in a crisis. It all seems a bit too cool and calm!
The Sam/Steve thing sickened me to my core. It actually interested me because I wanted to see how it panned out. Sam was incredibly stupid asking the driver to stop "so I can help that cop" - yeah, love. Like he's gonna stop for so other cops can witness the humanity he has I couldn't believe her naivety there, but I guess she was desperate!
The rape was digusting (as rape is) and her face told you everything there. Good work by LC I think. But as soon as she got in the car and saw Alex sleeping I knew she was going to go back and kill him. She couldn't start the car could she? He'd hear it and do God knows what. So I understand he motives: killing him so she and her son live. Good luck telling him though and dealing with her own demons. That's for another day!
RE the titles: Hardly noticed, so if it's like that every week the change won't be a big deal.
