Its early days and I'm still formulating my opinion on the episode....but here's some of my initial thoughts:

* Episode 23 eh? It was basically "Sea Change Part 2"

* Dr Morretti is a good choice as ER chief. He totally kicked ass this episode & took the whole of the staff out of their "comfort" zone. Even golden boy Morris got a dusting down.

Tucci is a great actor and always interesting to watch.

* Ray. Great! he's alive. The Honeymoon is certainly over for him, but as he said it could've him been alot worse.

* The ending was slightly less dramatic than "21 Guns"..... Neela gets trampled.....a bit laughable really.

mixed thoughts on this epi

not as big a cliff hanger as last season, if you can call it a cliff hanger at all.

I agree with Wendell, Morretti is going to be a good chief hes definitely going to shake things up a bit.

Well at least ray's alive, i hope he decides to stay for next season although i dont quite know how a doctor with prosthetic legs would work.

i cant see Gates getting custody of Sarah if it goes to court.

The whole season who decidely average.

The next season either needs to be the last or they need to reinvent ER. I honestly this that the writers have run out of steams.

What happened to Kovac ? He left and that was it.

What happened to Alex ? They sent him to the school and nothing really since.

Dr Gates. Who really cares now.

Ray. It might be interesting if they keep him for the next season.

Neela. More or less eye candy and not much substance this season.

OMG!!!!!!

ok i was totally spoiled so i knew what was going to happen but holy hell ray has no legs!!!!

i dont know what i was expecting but it looked so real and he was so hurt emotionally as well as physically. i nearly cried but managed to keep it in.

as for the rest of the episode,

i like morrietti but i do agree with abby that he is not motivating the staff by yelling at them.

luka going away on his own wasnt a good sign so soon after the wedding

morris - love him still. liked that he stood up to morreti but wasnt that exactly why he sent gates home the other week?

as for gates - blah who cares, maybe if sarah is gone he will get less screen time.

and neela getting trampled - well how convenient that she was wearing a bright red top and no one else was wearing anything at all colourful! and the trample thing was quite unrealistic i think

a good cliff hanger to end the season on i guess but at the same time depressing. ray is going home, neelas been trampled and luka & abby have been seperated already

This episode was a bit of a "nothing" for me. It had the potential for things to happen, but nothing really took off.

Kevin Morretti looks to be a good addition to the cast. He'll definately shake things up, but I don't know if he'll get more from Pratt and Morris and his comment to Abby at the end of the meeting was totally uncalled for.

Shame what's happened to Ray. He offered little to me, so his inevitable loss of screen time will change little for me.

Where the hell does Katy get off though? She finished with Ray, wanting him to stop pursuing her and now is taking the moral high-ground with Neela; blaming her for the accident and getting all chummy with his mother! She annoys me (Katy) and do not want her involved in series 14.

Gates and Sarah: It was obviously going to happen. She doesn't want to go, he doesn't want her to go - but this is America. Since when has common sense ruled! A nothing storyline for a nothing character.

The ending: Was Neela shot? Did she just fall? What happened? All a bit unclear.

Another series over. We all know there will not be too many to come. I'm not going to get too negative about this episode and just say I enjoyed the series.

Watching ER in it's current state is like going to your favourite restuarant; you know the people, you know the menu but once in a while it'll throw up a special that surprises you. It's not the rollercoaster ride of emotion it once was.

Ray has no legs! gosh that was such a shocker! and so heart wrenching too - to see somebody like that, knowing how his life will never be the same and just how horrible it must be i couldn't believe it at all! poor poor Ray. And poor actor who plays him (name has escaped me)! -- this was the first substantial bit of acting he has really done, and yet it looks to be his last too!

i can't believe they left Kovac just like that - he left at the beginning of the epi, with little explanation!?

i really like the new chief. apart from how ruse he was to Abby - i did not like that at all!! such an awful thing to say to somebody when you first meet them.

i agree with Sarah L about Katy - i mean why was she even there really?

i thought the patient storylines were really good, but te ending was pretty naff.
- i mean they showed that much in the ad - so i thought there would be more to it, but it was all a bit rushed and unclear as to what was atually going on. i didn't really get it. was there a gun shot and Neela fell? but who shot it? and did they shoot her? or are we not supposed to know anything?
thought the last 2 mins were a bit rubbish to be honest, but the rest was good.

nothing compared to 21 guns though.

Whoa!

No legs!

I didn't see that coming!

And yeah, I was also rather disappointed that ER chose to use Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah in their emotional montage. I mean, yes, it is a good song - but what an obvious choice for TV drama. The OC and Grey's Anatomy and CSI are all poking about with The Album Leaf and Regina Spektor and Imogen Heap and the like. They should've ventured out a bit. I reckon.

Finale wasn't the most gripping things ever. And I watched the More4 episode yesterday, too - I guess you can't really expect ER to still be amazingly inventive and original any more, in its 13th Season and all. I don't know, I'm come to not expect too much from ER anymore and just stand by it as one might a disappointing child or similar.

Loved ST, Dr Morretti is a great addition to the cast - very refreshing. Shame they didn't bring him in earlier in the season.

Luka leaving in a taxi ? I don't think this was his exit... I'm fairly confident we will see him again in S14, albeit briefly. This scene buys the writers time to sort out a proper exit and figure out what to do with MT. I still believe they will disappear in the sunset together.

Frank's "elephant's graveyard" comment re. Romano and Clemente was brilliant.

What a shock for Neela to find out about Ray's legs the way she did. However after Neela has spent most of the season chasing after Gates I had little sympathy for her. I still like PN but TPTB urgently need to pull their socks up and fix Neela. I so hope this whole Neela / Gates saga will not carry on in S14. Although we have to wait a few months for the new ER I don't think it is long enough for us to forget just how bad Gates was this season.

All in all not a bad episode but it didn't feel like a proper finale to me. Maybe this is because I simply don't care enough about the characters involved in the cliff hanger. ( if there was one ).

yeh when i heard Jeff Buckley i immediately thought The OC because thaat was the show that first brought that song to my attention, so i could see Seth sailing off in a boat, lol. but i love that song anyway, and is a truly emotive song so i could see how they might think it would work. i noticed Greys anatomy using Regina Spektor twice, lol, once 'on the radio' in series 2 and 'fidelity' in series 3 - but i am a huge regina fan so i noticed it from the first beat lol, but i liked how they used it so i thought it worked quite well. i like how in some programmes they can transform a song if they do it well. like again with GA, when they used Sno patrol in their season 2 finale. that was good because i didn't really likr that song before. Also GA actually uses a really good Damien Rice song!! which i loved, so i actually think they do a better job with the songs that ER does. using Jeff Buckley was so unoriginal. But talk about wacking out all the cliched songs - Shipwrecked did them all at the end lol.
i feel i have gone onto a tangent and not written what i i innitially came on here to do so i appologise. i was going to say something else butt i feel ive said too much! \
i migt go listne to some regina spektor now. Smile

oh and one more thing -what does TPTB stand for?

I agree with a lot of what has been said already. I was pretty disappointed with this as a finale. I felt it was more like a season opener.

Whoever said Neela getting trampled was quite laughable was right- it was a bit. It was ludicrous compared to PN's amazing performance in 21 Guns...I mean, just why was it necessary?

I agree with you Sarah about Katey- and with whoever asked why she was there...why WAS she there?! Although I have to say, a tiny piece of me blames Neela too...she should have got shot of Gates a long time ago and pulled Ray out of his misery!

The Gates/Sarah thing was just way too much like the Kerry/Henry custody battle cliffhanger. Been done before.

VERY disappointed with the use of Hallelujah, esp as it was used in 2 OC finales. Good song...but seriously, ER bosses, go and find your own songs, don't steal them from the other children.

The only really good thing was Moretti; I'm looking forward to more of him.

I think that's where I am too; obviously anyone who is invested in Neela will be anxious for the outcome of the trampling incident but I've had enough of her wibbling and supposed irresistability; I can't be bothered with Gates (the one thing the character achieved was to make me root for Ray who I really didn't care about either).

The S12 finale left several characters in jeopardy - Luka, Abby (and therefore the baby), Jerry, Sam, Newlex ... well, OK, maybe no-one cared about Newlex beyond feeling keenly that if it had been Oldex in that van it they might have given a damn.

So, for next season, I think it will be Moretti (no-one will ever sell me Neela/Gates (Gala? Neetes?) as ER's next root-for couple, ever) who will be holding my interest until Luka hoves back into view. Oh, and Morris.

I have never been a Neela/ Reela fan but I think she was very sweet in S12. Imo TPTB's attempt to push Gates to the forefront has been at the expense of both Ray and Neela. In S12 both these character had some nice story lines, this season however they were only used to sell us Gates! Despite not being a fan of Neela/Ray I think they could have been used in a better way.

Frown Ray!! He has no legs!!! :O!
Mad I now hate that Katy girl!!
Frown Neela got trampled but it was a very dramatic end to the season
Frown The fact the ER is getting dry and that was supposed to be a season finale
Confused Luka just got up and left.. ISN'T THIS SUPPOSED TO BE HIS LAST SEASON? That cannot be the end of LUKA!!
Mad Don't like the new cheif he's annoying and his meeting wasn't necessary as Abby said he doesn't know the ER.

Agree with most of what's been said so far, good epi but just not enough for a season finale! Especially compared to last year's.

Ray has no legs! Eek This was the one thing that I did think was good and could develop into a really good storyline. I was completely shocked when I saw him. From Katy's point of view I can see why she would hate Neela cos of Ray's obsession with her when they were dating but really not in the position to throw a hissy fit at her cos her and Ray ended it!

Neela getting trampled?! What the hell? At least it's original I s'pose! Maybe it'll knock some sense into her after dragging on the love triangle of season 13. Unfortunately I reckon if anything does come from this storyline and it's not just instantly forgotten about like a lot of this seasons plots(did Sam forget she shoot Steve? and where the hell is Abby's dad? Confused) it'll be used to force Neela/Gates back together which will suck!

Felt sorry for Sarah again, (she's had a rough year hasn't she?!) but yeah this has been done before.

How can there be so little Luka? It's hard enough coming to terms with him not being their next season they should be compensating for it now! Thinks'll never be straight forward for him and Abby will they! I too still believe (and desperately hope) they'll ride into the sunset together)

I still like the new chief, even though he was way out of line saying that to Abby, at least he's gonna stur things up a bit.

Disappointing finale but their are some interesting things to look forward to after it: What happens to Neela, the new chief, how Abby's gonna cope and Ray's situation.
