Twenty-One Guns. Series 12, episode 22.
In the aftermath of tragedy, the ER starts returning to normality. But it's not long before the calm is shattered by the arrival of two prisoners, intent on escape. (Last In Series, Subtitles, Audio Described, 4 Star)
I spend 23 hours a day wondering whether we’re wrong for each other, wondering whether the baggage we both bring would be enough to sink a small ship...But in the 24th hour, I realise I’ve been thinking about her for 23 hours and it always comes back to, there's something about her that I can’t stay away from. Something about her, that makes me wanna…love her.
*~*~*So what am I? The butterfly or the tornado?*~*~*
OH MY, OH MY, OH MY. My muscles think I hate them, I have never been so tense for such a long period, I only realised I was at the very end once it had finished and I tried to stand up, my thigh muscles hurt so much.
Even though I kinda knew what was going to happen it still took my breath away. I couldnt go completely spoiler free but I stopped reading the boards before it aired in the US. I am so glad i did.
Ok eppy breakdown. I LOVED the begining with Luka and Abby, how cute did Luka look when he was putting up the cot and talking in Croatian(Is that what you call their language?) An Abby's 'I hope you know how much I love...this, all of this' for a moment I thought we were going to get an 'I love you' how fab would that have been for the season finale!
Mary the emt trainee - I knew it was going to be something to do with her.
Weaver - how can she let Luka take the blame, she hired Clemente for gods sake. Own up to Anspaugh (SP?) Kerry!
Everything to do with Neela and with Gallant's funeral had me in tears. What an amazing actress PN is - yay she's british! It was a good contrast to flick between that and the action at County.
Then we come to Steve, amazing cinematography on all the action on this. Sam's 'Abigail' well written and delivered. Never liked the character of Sam but I did tonight.
I thought Luka would die (Didnt read anything to do with him, didnt want to be spoiled on everything) and boy was I relived when we saw him breathing. How awful for him to realise whats happening to Abby and he cant get to her.
Gerry has to live hes an oldie, he cant die, but well acted on his part, not seen an awful lot of acting by him but he is good - want some more!
My rant at TPTB: why cant you just let someone live happily ever after????? Luka and Abby are happy let the lubaby live with NO complications PLEASE
Lets face facts, you got yours wrong!!!!!!!!!! off to Africa ~~~~~VERY Proud member of the Troll Free Zone~~~~~ ******** The ship is canon baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!********
omg that was such a great episode! was horrible when luca could see abby through the window but she couldnt see him and he couldnt do anything to help her!
.................................................................................... Carter: did the gang go out again last night? Abby: its not a gang it’s a club Carter: not another stage diving incident I hope Abby: first rule of girls club is you don’t talk about girls club Carter: you’re not going to tell me what you did? Abby: The usual, prank calls, pillow fights, lesbian experimentation
oh my goodness oh my goodness! cannot beilieve it!!! whywhywhy? how can they do that to use.... leave it like that?! please let them all be ok! thought kovac was dead, so glad he's not... knew something would be up with abby - but for him to be there and see her fall, without being able to do anything!! arghhhhhhhhhhhhh was soo good - and Sam - where are they taking her and how did they get alex?? such a moving episode. sorry its just rambles, i can't string a sentence together at the mo, i'm in shock. knew something was up with that new girl, but i still didn't see it coming, and on that scale.
and the worst part is we have to wait until next year!!!

JD: "you have a tough day at the office, so you come home, make yourself some dinner, smother you kids, pop in a movie, maybe have a drink. It's fun right? Wrong. Don't smother your kids."
And poor Luka has been through something like this before - watching his family die whilst he's helpless to do anything about it. Poor sod.
We did actually get an admission of love from Abby, but it was thrown into their hallway conversation:
Luka: Don't we love each other? Abby: It's not about that! Of course we do!"
I was very impressed by the whole episode, the writing, the pacing, the inclusion of just about everyone in the cast and the fact that the uncertainty about what happens next season was also extended to more than one character -it takes is Sam, Alex, Luka, Abby, Jerry and even Kerry, with the question as to whether she's prepared to throw Luka to the wolves over Clementeh.
Strawberry boy - I howled with laughter as his little arms flailed around when he toppled over.
Apparently Luka was swearing at the cot with the Croatian equivalent of "F**k a duck".
Loved the little exchange between Morris and Abby when he allocated Strawberry boy to her:
"I'm sick of being bit, kicked and p*ssed on" "Guess you gave up dating too, huh?"
Morris proved his mettle too. I don't want him to leave.
Still not fussed about the whole Gallant/Neela thing, but it was well done and Mekhi looked very fine in that suit and coat.[/shallow]
OH MY GOD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How good was tonights episode. I just cant wait for series 13. I felt something was up when that new nurse turned up and the grannies asked abby about higher powers!!! The makers cannot be serious about not making any more after the next series tonight just proves how good the programmes are. The whole show had me gripped from beginning to end. i was jumping up and down on the sofa, willing Luca to get to Abby. Why when she finally gets it together do they seem to take it away from her, first Carter now Luca....
Poor old Neela, Im glad she had Pratt to keep her company, and she finally stood up to Micheal's Father.
As one of the few remaining people who likes Sam, I'm fearing for her fate in the prison truck. I wanna see her kick some fake EMT butt. Steve is a pleb.
I was so on the edge of my bed the whole episode, truly gripped. A fantastic way to end the season, but they'd better not let Abby or Luka die. They probably won't. It'll be interesting to see how this episode is resolved in January
A month I now can't wait for.
I'm continuing to love Neela. And Jerry has been terribly unlucky this season, first being struck by lightning and now getting a gunshot wound. Thought it was so sweet how he risked his own life to protect Strawberry Boy
Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons because, to them, you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup
I liked the beginning where Abby was trying to tell Luka that she loved him, really sweet and then later in the corridor they finally said it.
The scene where Neela told off her father-in-law was great too but I still don't really care about the fact that Gallant got killed.
Luka is safe, tied up but safe. I'm worried about his mental health though when he could see Abby in trouble and couldn't do anything. To see you pregant girlfriend slumping to the floor with blood on her hands and not being able to do anything or get help that is just cruel. Especially after what happened to his family in Croatia.
I wonder why Steve kicked Luka's head when he was already lying on the floor not able to defend himself. What a coward... Oh well from what we can see a least he hasn't done any permanent damage to his face.
When I saw Sam leap in to the back of that van when she saw Alex tied up in there I could only think of one word. Drive!
After all a very good finale with a bit for everyone. ( I'm sure the anti-luby people will disagree with me. ) What happens to Sam and Alex? Does Jerry live? Will Abbey and baby be ok? What about Luka's job / Weaver thing ? This is what makes my brain do overtime. I can not imagine that Weaver would feed Luka to the wolves... This is going to be interesting.
Okay - honestly, I haven't really cared all too much in any of the season finales of ER that I've seen. (season 7 onwards) - I mean, the smallpox thing was just not that gripping and Pratt and Chen driving their car into a river...really...well. But this time - jesus! We have to wait until January to see what happens?
While Sam and Alex are stuck in a van with CrazySteve and friends? While Abby's passed out on the floor? While Jerry's been shot in the chest? While Kovac is intubated and paralysed in the next room and nobody knows???
Man.
But I really loved Pratt in this episode - he's really taken the whole Darfur thing in his stride and not been so annoying about it, like Carter is. Parminder Nagra did really souperly in her acting last night, too - I did actually care. It was really sad and her flip-out at Gallant's dad was well-deserved.
Sam was actually well-used for once, which was really great to see. Like when she got upset and shaken about trying to intubate Luka - that was really well done. And all of her trying to attract attention to what was going on, calling Abby "Abigail" and such like. And stupid Morris! (But I am gonna miss the guy if he really goes.)
Basically, it was a whole load of drama (the shooting scene was artfully done - I really liked it, with the shot slowing as it hit that security guard, and the ringing in Abby's ears afterwards...) that was really cleverly and slickly woven together with things like Sam going, "Think about Alex!" and Steve saying, "I already did." And then poor Zombie Alex is tied up in the van.
And with Luka being able to see Abby passing out with blood on her hands, but not being able to do anything about it.
Great finale though, really. Now to sit back and wait for half a year...

all i can say is WOW! i sat in the breaks with a big grin on my face and then wen it ended it jsut sat lyk :O then my mum was telling me to go to bed n i woz jsut lyk in a min:O i loved every min of this, but i would have liked to have seen how the got alex. maybe they'll show flash backs in the next season?. strawberry boy, aw how cute lol, he made me laugh so much.
ahh im being rushed to get off here :@ i'll amaze you all with my presence later hehe, lucky you's! byeee
oh,yeah - i forgot about those old women asking if abby's baby was ok - spooky. a little bit i liked in this episode, was when strawberry boy pinched Jerry's leg so that he wouldn't feel the gunshot pain. ahh - and when he said he couldn't cover for Frank. it's amazing with all that shooting that the prisoners managed to get away unharmed with sam.
