ABC has announced that the next season will be ER curtain call.
It should run for 19 episodes.
I kind of feel that it ran out of steam a few years ago. It will be interesting to see if the writers do a spin-off series which seems the thing to do in America lately(SG1 to Atlantis etc).
It's been a good shot but it will be time to say goodbye next year
Yeah. Apparently they are desperately trying to get old ER cast members back for some sort of where they all are now thing?
.................................................................................... Carter: did the gang go out again last night? Abby: its not a gang it’s a club Carter: not another stage diving incident I hope Abby: first rule of girls club is you don’t talk about girls club Carter: you’re not going to tell me what you did? Abby: The usual, prank calls, pillow fights, lesbian experimentation
I think that unfortunately TPTB have not been able to overcome the departure of GV. They pulled it of when Clooney left but on this occasion they haven't been able to deliver the goods. They tried to sell us Gates which has failed big time.
NBC will make one last set of rounds at County General for a 15th and final season of ER, but not all the doctors will be around for rotations.
Maura Tierney (Abby Lockhart) will exit after a few episodes, and Goran Visnjic (who plays Lockhart's love, Luka Kovac) also will leave the show early next season for Abby's exit.
Mekhi Phifer has not yet signed a new contract, although castmates John Stamos, Parminder Nagra and Linda Cardellini will be back.
Looking ahead to the finale, executive producer John Wells would like some former cast members to come back and say goodbye. But apart from Noah Wyle, whose contract calls for him to return for four more episodes, he hasn't made any overtures.
"I kind of miss all my friends," Wells says of George Clooney, Julianna Margulies and the rest. "It's impossible to approach people and say, 'Hey, would you feel like it?' without knowing what all these (future) stories are going to be. We'd just like them to be part of closing down what everybody started."
S15 is what this refers to; looks as though Luka and Abby will exit at the same time, which to my mind increases the chances of a happy ending dramatically.
Hooray, happy ending for Abby and Luka...pleeeease yes!
I read in OK magazine that George probably isn't coming back. It was a little quote from him that said "We never even talked about it, no one has ever asked me. It's the funniest thing - that story came out and it was everywhere in one day."
So not great news! I think it would be a bit cheesy to have them all back anyway... having Carter back for 4 episodes will be cool though, didn't realise that was still in his contract.
We had Carol and Doug mentioned when Jeanie was back last week. Their happy. End of. George is way too big to go back now. I doubt TPTB would even ask him.
While it still has it's moments, I'm glad it's finishing. It was a fantastic show (still is a very good one) and defined a televisual era.

I don't see why they can't ask George Clooney if they wanted to. ER was a brilliant springboard for Clooney Personallly I think they may not ask him because Doug and Carol had a happy ending. Maybe it is best left at that.
I think previous seasons have been brilliant but this season has run out of steam.
I would like to share with you that when ER first came on the airs I watched the first 2 seasons and left it until season 9. So I have 7 series to watch so once they have finished with ER it will still go on for me as I plan to watch the rest of it afer it finishes hehehehe
I read in the Metro a few months back that George Clooney wasn't asked to come back and he was a bit upset about it.
I think he should come back. Although there really wouldn't be much for him to come back for. He had one person he was really close to there, Mark Greene, and he's dead so..
I'm sad ER will be over. It amazes me how it's run for 15 seasons, though.
i wouldnt say ive watched solidly but i am sure ive seen a bit of all 14 series so i will be sad, i always look forward to new year and new series!
im glad it sounds like luka and abby get a happy ending, those two were always meant to be together! ooh if Mekhi Phifer hasnt signed a new contract are we to assume it was indeed him that went in the ill fated ambulance at the end of this series?!?!
