dealing with difficult friends... hmm. well, to be honest, maybe this is a biased view because you're lovely and i like you but i don't see why this friend should be worth you making more of an effort than you already have. i don't know how close you were before or what things are exactly like now but either she'll grow up and see the light and things'll get back to normal or she'll just childishly demand your full attention which just isn't right. You should just stand your ground and remain how you are - it isn't your fault if she can't accept reality and you shouldn't have to be the one making compromises because of that. ******************************************* *** Hector the disgruntled tortoise was actually quite a happy tortoise until he was hit by a bus *** Honorary Member of the Hector Fan Club

yeah, when my ex best friend said i said something horrible to her..i just stayed away despite wanting to kick her ass, and a few months later..she told me she'd been a prat and we just became friends again, we're still friends now, cos i'm not one to hold a grudge, we're just not best friends anymore.

My throat hurts!
Spreading the Carby Love
I spend 23 hours a day wondering whether we’re wrong for each other, wondering whether the baggage we both bring would be enough to sink a small ship...But in the 24th hour, I realise I’ve been thinking about her for 23 hours and it always comes back to, there's something about her that I can’t stay away from. Something about her, that makes me wanna…love her.

AND I have to be at dancing in like half an hour....I only have one ballet shoes, my hair is a state and it takes about 20 minutes to get there....I'm imagining me being rather late!

I don't really do hurrying... In the end I was late! Surprise, surprise! But when I actually made it, I had fun!

aaawww... you guys are lovely! i knew i could count on you all! thanks for all the support... quote: i don't see why this friend should be worth you making more of an effort than you already have. i don't know how close you were before or what things are exactly like now but either she'll grow up and see the light and things'll get back to normal or she'll just childishly demand your full attention which just isn't right. I have one particular friend who is really really difficult to deal with sometimes and has done so much to hurt me in the past that I've just wanted to severe all ties with her- but I'm always talking to my Mum and sister about it and they say that she actually really needs me because everybody else lets her down and that's why she acts that way towards people...so I'm determined to stay a totally loyal friend to her (but not to the point where I become a pushover!) so that she will learn about what a loyal friend should be.. I hope I'm making sense...I'm basically saying if you act up to what she's doing then it will only carry on in circles..and she can only really lern to be a good friend if you keep showing her what that is- and yeah it's SO hard because you feel like you're getting nothing back for a while when you're giving so much..but it does pay off (plus you get the added bonus of feeling like you're taking the moral high ground Big Grin) It sounds to me like she is being very possessive of you because she's so scared about settling back into friendships and wants you all to herself- I suggest you take that as a compliment and just keep being supportive to her- I know you have loads of other stuff going on with your life- but keep talking to your new friends too about all that stuff..and let her know gently that things had to change while she was away.. yeah, similar situations... she doesn't ahve that many friends and doesn't get on with her family so i feel that i should be there for her... she recently told me that i am one of only thre people she can't live without... she said she could live without her family and some other friends but not without me and two of her other friends... which made me feel bad because i was giving ehr such a hard time... but also angry because i felt that if she cares that much then she would find a way to overcome her jealousy... but like i said... i'll just grit my teeth and deal with it... see how it develops... thanks again everyone for all your advice! it really does help! BREAKING NEWS... omg... something totally bizarre at work... i just gave an old lady £1.20 for a bus home! she was sent to my emergency department by her gp to rule out a heart attack, which i did, cuz the pain she was suffering from clearly wasnt coming from her heart. but she then couldnt get hold of her daughter to come take her home, nor could she order a cab home (she had no money on her)... but she was such a nice lady (over 70 and still extremely fit, running marathons for charity and so on, which also makes her more unlikely to suffer from heart problems...) that my hand somehow just magnetically reached into my back pocket and out came a single london bus fare! wtf... PS i thought she was actually suffering from pain due to a drug side effect, namely myositis from the atorvastatin that her gp had given her for her high cholesterol. he had caused the very symptom that he then wanted me to check out. gps... *sigh*
