awww, Gallant (Neelas dear departed husband) was lovely. He was a bit of a t1t as a husband to Neela though. He is better than the new choices she is being given here.

SPOILER?? I reckon that sadly Gates and Neela will hook up and maybe the med student of Neela's who appears in Jan 25th episode Parenthood. But I don't know. I am just guessing. I would like to see Ray and Neela get together. Not a big fan of Gates though I did like what he did last week with that gay couple and trying to revive the one who was injured even though Pratt told him not to.

from the advert i saw it doesn't look good for ray and neela but we can all still hope. i still think gates is arrogant from last nigbts episode! i love what pratt gave him at the end though! teehehe

A trawl through the spoilers provided by M will reveal that: Gates is rooming with Meg, the widow of his best friend, and Sarah, her daughter. It seems to be an arrangement that includes sex but he has his own living space and they are not, in the conventional sense of the term, a "couple".

ooh right that makes a little more sense. but stil...spoiler startif it includes sex then he shouldn't be doing any thing with neela as that would technically still be cheating. but its ER and i still think that they may have been fooling around before the best friend died. and that sarah the daughter is actually gates. its seems like something that gates might do. spoiler end

From what I've read of the spoilers, it seems Ray does get involved with Neela's med student but after a while it becomes obvious to himself and to Abby that he's not happy and that he has feelings for Neela. But as for the whole Gates/Neela thing, I don't know, though it does seem he's interested and she's attracted but I'm not sure whether they're going to get together.

I dont think it will happen with ray and neela because they did not want a black man(pratt) getting with a chinese woman on ER, so why is it going to happen between a white guy and an aisan lady remember Neela was married to a black man and he ended up getting killed in Iraq soon afer.

Which "they" didn't want Pratt and Chen together? I'm not sure that Gallant's demise was in any way connected to the ethnicity of his wife either.

At the moment both Neela's potential love interests are white; are you also suggesting that Neela/Gates won't happen because he's white? There are plenty of good reasons for her to put about a million miles between her and Tony but race really doesn't strike me as being one of the most compelling.

By your reasoning the writers will have to introduce a new Sikh character for Neela and while that isn't impossible, with two men already in the fray it seems unlikely.

Not altogether sure what point you're trying to make here.

I'm pointing out that mixed relationships are still taboo on american tv, no so over here Mrs Eyre, remember it was just over 40 years ago that Kirk kissed Uhura on star trek in an episode which caused a stir in the US at the time and the BBC did not show that particular episode until the 80's that is what I'm trying to say, and i hope to be proved wrong and that things have changed but nope I'll be proved right. Also in 1992 the BBc showed an americam made documentary called clour adjustment to also back up what I said in my first reply on here.

And so the only way Neela will have a viable love interest is if another character of Indian extraction is introduced?

I disagree with your reasoning as to why Gallant was killed off; if the mixed relationships argument holds true then the two men currently showing interest in her are also doomed to failure one way or another and Neela will remain unpaired until a character with the same ethincity as her is thrown into the mix.

Just read your message Mrs Eyre, and all I can say in response is that I stand by what I have put down on here and still hope to be proved wrong and that things have moved on in the US concerning mixed race relationships like they have over here, but I still doubt it, and wait and see if that will be the case with Neela.

But it won't work with Neela, regardless of the colour of her boyf. This is a drama and no one gets to stay happy for very long!!

I disagree with the race thing.

ER tackles far more sensitive issues all the time, it is daft thinking the writers will find mixed race relationships "taboo"
