Can anybody please tell me why Neela's surname didnt change from Rasgotra when she married Michael Gallant?

maybe she didnt want to change it, many people dont...plus hes dead now

No need to change her name if she doesn't want to (I didn't when I got married); and as I understand it it isn't a routine thing to do in subcontinental cultures - perhaps someone will tell me if I'm wrong about that?
