Mark Greene was best character ever, now it would have to be Pratt, not because I like him particularly but hes really matured as a character. Least liked is Neela or Sam, they both annoy me, never warmed to Sam:-((

Carter didn't get fired; he was sent to rehab after he became addicted to painkillers (he was stabbed by a psychotic patient; his med student Lucy Knight died in the atttack) and was using drugs he obtained from work.
He decided to stay in Africa after finding Luka (went to retrieve his body because he was reported dead, but found him alive, though very ill with malaria) where he met Kem; returned to Chicago with her (pregnant), left again to follow her to France after their baby was stillborn, and is now married to her and working in Africa.
