God I miss the 80s, lol. I soooooo had fluorescent-neon clothing...neon-yellow socks, neon-pink/green shoe laces, neon-everything tops... I had an Alf lunchbox. I owned Pixie boots. I play Pac-Man still, on my new-fangled plug-in box that has 4 other games too. Almost everything on that list is familiar (except a few things I may have missed out on to begin with, being born in 1981 my awareness didn't kick in for a while...). It all seems so horrendous now, but at the time it was so good, lol.

Spreading the Carby Love
I spend 23 hours a day wondering whether we’re wrong for each other, wondering whether the baggage we both bring would be enough to sink a small ship...But in the 24th hour, I realise I’ve been thinking about her for 23 hours and it always comes back to, there's something about her that I can’t stay away from. Something about her, that makes me wanna…love her.

I was born in '84 and consider myself a '90s child. I don't remember much about the '80s - and what I do remember music and film wise is from listening and watching in my teens/twenties. I am a Thatcher child though - all 80s babies are. I'm unsure about whether that is a good thing or not!

Does anyone remember those shoe laces that looked like phone cords, all curly? And leggings with those stirup things that went under your feet - and Postman Pat before they re-vamped him. Aww...I miss the '90s.

Woah, that's kind of scary that you guys were born in the 90s No offense...I just feel like it was hardly any time ago. Meh. And yes those curly laces rocked! Did you guys also have those snap-on bracelets in fluorescent colours...man they were cooool!

The ones that looked like rulers, but were oh so much more? Then you hit yourself with it on the wrist and voila - a fashion statement.

I remember pretty much all of those things, and ALL of the 80's/90's things!
I have a good one, will find it and post it in a minute. It's for all of you who are at uni, or for those of you going to go to uni.

YOU KNOW YOU'VE BEEN IN UNIVERSITY TOO LONG WHEN
>You actually like doing laundry at home where the washing machines work >Two miles is not too far to walk for a party. >You'd rather clean than study especially if an essay is due. >"Oh sh!t how did it get so late!" comes out of your mouth at least once a night. >Parents' cooking becomes something you desire, not avoid. >You schedule your classes around sleep habits and soap operas especially neighbours and Hollyoaks. >You know the pizza boy by name and don't even need to read the menu. >You go to sleep when it's light and get up when it's dark. >You live for getting mail. > Looking out the window is a form of entertainment. >Prank phone calls become funny again. >You start thinking and sounding like your friends and your accent becomes a hybrid of West Country, Surrey and general Northern. >Highlighters are the coolest things on earth. >Rearranging your room is your favourite pastime. >Rubbish cheap £1 shops are so cool. >The weekend lasts from Thursday to Monday.
BEFORE I CAME TO UNIVERSITY, I WISH I HAD KNOWN...
>That it didn't matter how late my first lecture was, I'd still sleep through it. >That you can love a lot of people in a lot of different ways. >No matter how 'cool' you were in school, no one here cares. >That if you wear polyester everyone will ask why you are so dressed up. >That every clock on campus shows a different time. >That if you got good a-levels, so what? It doesn't matter here. >That I would go to a party the night before an exam or essay due-date. >That you can know everything and fail a test. >That you can know nothing and ace a test. >That I could get used to almost anything found out about my friends. >That most of my education would be obtained outside of lectures. >That friendship is more than getting drunk together but that's still funny.....! >That Sunday is a figment of the world's imagination. >That Psychology is really Biology, that Biology is really Chemistry, that Chemistry is really Physics and that Physics is really Maths. >That my parents would become so much smarter in the last few years.
TOP 10 REASONS THAT UNIVERSITY IS LIKE PRIMARY SCHOOL
>You cross the street without looking for cars. >Snack time is a necessity. >You bundle up for the outdoors without caring what you look like (because everyone else looks as stupid as you do). >You stay at home and play games with your friends. >You wear your backpack on both shoulders. >You wear big mittens. >Playing in the snow is a legitimate activity. >You take naps. >You look forward to cheese

Some of those are so true! I miss uni now too! Talking of prank phone calls reminded me of one time someone phoned me and said 'hi claire, did I leave my pants on your cooker?' I was like 'erm.....I think you've got the wrong number!'

It's true! When I was at uni, I lost all ability to look before I crossed a road. I was nearly ran over three times in one day! Now I've left, I've gone all 'sensible' again

Hey Mr Grump Gills You know what you gotta do when life gets you down?
|
| |
|

|
at uni we used to answer the phone with 'watford crematorium. you kill em, we grill em.' oh how it made us laugh! or occasionally we would pretend to be the switchboard. that caused much confusion for the poor person ringing, but much fun for us!
