Ok, so it turns out that our book thread has been locked so I thought I'd start another
I finally bought 'Lucky' by Alice Sebold, and have read the opening chapters. Although fantastically written, it is certainly not light reading. It is very, very graphic and at some points rather distressing. But I will keep reading anyway

I've just got Lucky too. I've read the first 3 or 4 chapters but I'm really not liking her style of writing in it, definitely a disappointment after reading Lovely Bones. I'm just finding it very difficult to get into, and not because of the subject, I just don't feel it flows very well.

Well ladies, I have read both of these books. Lovely Bones first. I thought it was a really good book, so I bought Lucky after that.
I din't enjoy it anywhere near as much, but it is still better reading than many other literary pieces available out there. The difference obviously being is Lucky is (semi)autobiographical whereas obviously lovely bones isn't.
i think i posted about this one before but i cant remeber for sure... The Death and Life of Charlie St Cloud by Ben Freeman. Its in the vien of Lovely Bones but miles better. i loved it.

I just finished Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman, it is a well written book. It is really good but some parts are sad. I want to read the Knife Edge, the sequel to it. Does anyone know if it is any good?
I am finishing The Raging Quiet by Sheryl Jordon. its great stuff. Not too deeply fantasy to put you off but very well written to appeal to all tastes.

One flew over the cuckoo's nest- heh... inspired by Bree from Neighbours?
It's in both movies Clare. It's the book that links them in Serendipity but also it is in High Fidelity when Rob Gordan says this:Hey, I'm not the smartest guy in the world, but I'm certainly not the dumbest. I mean, I've read books like "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" and "Love in the Time of Cholera", and I think I've understood them. They're about girls, right? Just kidding. But I have to say my all-time favorite book is Johnny Cash's autobiography "Cash" by Johnny Cash.
Hehehe I know that film way too well!
Oh and I started reading One Flew over the cuckoo's nest because so many people recommended it to me.
I read PS, I love you by Cecilia Aherne yesterday. I thought it was pretty good although I found it very difficult to settle into any of the characters and didn't really like her style of writing overly much.

I hated that book. I found it really predictable - I could tell exactly what was going to happen, and I could almost say the words of the characters before I read them. I guess I'm just not into that sort of book though. It was quite moving in parts, but I found it too manipulative.
am so happy, my series of unfortunate events box set came today, have read the first 2 already, they are so good! am going to be torn between reading them, and the new hp, unless i have read them all by the time it comes out which is looking quite likely!

I'm reading it again now, lol. Need something to read till Harry Potter comes out...not that I'll have any money to buy it when it does..
