The show started with 6 main cast members, but from throughout ER history, who would you have as your main six?
Attending/Chief: Dr. Kerry Weaver. She's played such an important part throughout the years. Attending: Dr. Mark Greene Resident: Dr. Neela Rasgotra. She rules and is very quirky Nurse: Carol Hathaway Surgeon: I know he's not technically a main cast member, but DuBenko Student: Lucy Knight

OK, we have med students which is what Neela started as; they graduate and become doctors and start 4 years of residency. (Abby is now in the second year of her reisdency, or R2). The first year of residency is also called internship. In the 4th year of residency they are qualified to apply for the post of Chief Resident - which is what Morris now is.
On completing the residency they are eligible for the position of Attending which is a full blown doctor with the full range of responsibilities for patients, students and residents. At the end of this year both Morris and Pratt, as R4s will be eligible for an Attending position.

To me Dr Greene was the ER . Anthony Edward's acting was superb, and if George Clooney wasn't the best actor then, he was incredibly good looking! And Carol was beautiful too. Susan was much better first time round, but I always liked her, even recently,although she had less to do and it's a shame she's gone. She was so down to earth.
And I forgot when talking about relationships we'd like back in another thread, the best relationship of all was Carter and Benton. Eriq Lasalle and Noah Wyle were fantastic together.
Oh I guess I'm still having Noah withdrawal symptoms
I do like some of the current characters, above all Sam, Neela and Dubenko and sometimes Pratt, and Luka is great eye candy, but I still prefer the original six
Good question banana! There's so many I could pick for each role, but I narrowed it down to:
Attending/Chief: Kerry Weaver - the ER just isn't the same without her and, faults and all, she's a great character.
Attending: Mark Green - he personified the ER in my opinion, and simply made the show in the early days, and he's the doctor I would probably trust the most!
Resident: Abby Lockhart - I really didn't like her as a nurse and she annoyed me immensely, but for some reason I began warming to her two or three seasons ago, and now I can't imagine the show without her character. Plus she's a very good ER doctor!
Nurse: Carol Hathaway - the original and best nurse the ER's had!
Surgeon: Rocket Romano - he's possibly my favourite character from ER, and underneath his sarky and arrogant exterior he really does care about people, and he was a great surgeon. (A very close second would be Dubenko)
Student: John Carter - I've liked Carter throughout ER, but will always remember him fondly for his med student days.

This is a tough call but I'd say-
Chief - Kerry Weaver...she rules! Attending - Mark Greene. I miss him so much Resident - Susan Lewis. Ditto ^^ Surgeon - Abby Keaton. I *love* her. Nurse - Abby Lockhart. Tough call between her and Carol but I do just heart Abby. Student - John Carter. He was *so* great as a student.
