snore. i'm sorry i was so bored during this ep. apart from about the last 10 mins which i really liked. and considering abby is my favourite character (joint with luka) and she was the main ER character and i was still bored is not a good sign. bring on next week.

Do you know what happened to the boy who suddenly got everything he ever dreamed of? He lived happily ever after.
Really? You were all bored by the episode? I thought it was really, really good, much better than Time of Death last year. James Woods and Ally Walker both gave great guest performances, and Maura did a fantastic job too. I especially loved the cross-cutting between flashbacks and County. Also loved Pratt's subtle mention of Dr Greene's funeral and loving to get out of County.
All in all, a well-done episode

I think Time of Death was much better. I cried at that episode.
I agree that this episode was a bit long winded.
It was nice to have a little glimpse back into the past, but the wigs annoyed me!
I actually quite enjoyed this episode and it made me smile because the lecture at the end he was giving on ATP and mitochondrial electron transport is exactly what my dissertation is on; wish I could get as enthusiastic about it though as him as all it seems to do to me is induce the need for sleeping instead. I also just finished an essay on ALS/Motor neuron disease so it intrigued me in this way too. Wasn't as emotional as I thought they could have made it though which probably detracted from the story a little as it didn't make me care that much about it all but I enjoyed it all the same.

Well...I was bored abut then I may just be comparing to the really good episodes we've had recently. I agree with Goonergal that I prefer the character based stuff. But I thought all the acting was really good.
Someone mentioned the bad advert breaks! I couldnt agree more!
The episode was ok, but I think it was a more of a let down for me personally becasue I was comparing it to the other episodes that have been aired this season so far.
I have a feeling that they will do another episode with that guy.. maybe his progress or even his death?????
well the way I see it is that if this had been in season 11 we would all have thought it was really good but now it is just a bad season 12 episode. there was some highlights of this episode, Pratt mentioned Green, Neela and Abby both students of james woods way cool hehe
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ excuse my danglsih, but it's cold up here and it's hard to spell with cloves on your fingers
I too thought this was a big let down. I'm not so keen on episodes like this, I like to see a number of storylines going on at once.
I think I am right in saying that if someone was to have watched ER last night for the first time, I doubt they would be back again next week to watch another episode!
As for the adverts, I thought they were taking the p*** when they did they ads straight after the credits bit at least there were around 15 minutes uninterupted viewing each time after that. I can't stamd how they cut to ads within 2 minutes of the credits ending at the beginning.
Luv MD xx
i was glad the ads came so quick. I really needed the loo,
LOL
That what kept my intrest during this episode, mind you seeing Asprine was brillant-we hardly see him ER anymore
really-your studying to become a doctor?
Nope, I'm doing a degree in medical science but I've decided that I really don't like science anymore and have decided to become a teacher instead, lol.
An episode which follows just one patient always has to be something special, just to keep the interest and I feel this just missed the mark.
However, I don't want to take anything away from the performance of James Wood and the lady who played Fran because they were fantastic. Even though they weren't together in that respect, they were in every other way. She knew exactly what he wanted. Even when a rather annoying Abby was taking over
Yes, the great Lockhart annoyed me. It wasn't till the last moments that her connection with Nate was revealed, which is more a writing failure than an MT one, but she just grated on me all night. This man is intelligent, alert and knows his own mind. Stop making decisions for him! Now, I know they're making babies together but how on earth Luka let her put that trake in is beyond me. Be objective please.
I did like Sam last night.
Does Neela exist anymore? Her only storyline has been her marriage/divorce to Gallant. We want more Neela! Oh, and do not let her go into surgery.
Loved the heads-up to Mark Greene
All in all, the central performances were brill, but our cast didn't really have a chance to shine.
I've got to agree that this was an eppy that I just didn't get into until the last 10 mins when we found out Abby's conection to Nate and then it made more sense as to why she was so keen for him to stay at the hospital. It was interesting the way they referred to Greene and I thought i heard Romano's name mentioned too. The wigs were kind of distracting - I spent more time wondering whether their hair really was like that, rather than listening to the story. I had to smile that I vaguely understood Nate's talk on ATP and his "adenine holding hands with thymine" and also wishing to see his enthusiasm for science in more teachers - although I think my bio teacher did once leap on a desk - I think he was pretending to be some sort of plant...
Ha ha! Yeah, the wigs cracked me right up too! I think I p!ssed my mother off though but shouting, "It's a WIG! It's a WIG!" everytime we saw Abby in the Past.
It was a good episode - and nicely acted by...thingy. But I preferred Time of Death because it was more abstract and original. It still was good to see a change to the usual in ER. I thought that but with Abby and Nate at the end was sweet, with her so reluctant to let him go - even though it really wasn't her place.
The ATP stuff excited me too! And the mRNA and tRNA! It was very cool. I wish more programmes I love would talk about my AS Biology/Chemistry syllabus in shows. That's like the CBS guide to CSI where they describe the tools they use like the Mass Spectrometer - which I have to learn all about for Chemistry - and I sat there reading it, thinking - "WOW! How exciting!" just because it's CSI... Yeah... I'm fairly shallow.
Ah don't worry Jade. I do that too! Whenever tv shows talk about cortisol levels or something equally random I feel, like, totally clever and nerdy. But mainly clever. Despite the fact that I am, for the most part, jobless, friendless and prospectless. But yay!
And I love Anspaugh. I just want to give him baked goods. Is that weird? It is. And wrong. I'm not ashamed.
