First post long time fan of E.R from the offset But Abby just seems to Amaze me that some of the best recent episodes with her have me shouting at the TV do not get me wrong but she is a great character but she has tried the patience of angels. Is it just me then or can someone show the good side of her.

Yeah, sometimes TPTB make it difficult to like Abby but I think in the last season she got a lot better, less moany and she had more of an interesting storyline. She has always been one of my favourites.
Spreading the Carby Love
I spend 23 hours a day wondering whether we’re wrong for each other, wondering whether the baggage we both bring would be enough to sink a small ship...But in the 24th hour, I realise I’ve been thinking about her for 23 hours and it always comes back to, there's something about her that I can’t stay away from. Thank you for the welcome thought no one was speaking. you are right her storylines have improved. can not wait till the new season starts, seems ages since the last season finished.

I have to say, in recent series, Abby has improved. She is looking a lot more cheerful, and seems to be enjoying life a lot more now, as to compared when she first started. She is also an excellent doctor, as Carter said when Pratt went to Africa, she was always two steps ahead of the other interns.

Of coourse she's cheerful - she has Luka to go home to!
I think that as with any character there are things in and about Abby and her responses which will either speak to the viewer or won't; much of our like or dislike for a character is about us really.
I think Abbys background and upbringing explains alot about her character (whish is something ER does brilliantly) If she ever gets fed up with Luka then ship him my way!!That man is gorgeous!!!

Yes it is a pain when some one spells your name wrong, but in this case this is her name for the Character check on her fan club.

This isn't about Abby, but about Maura Tierney, but I didn't want to start a new thread just for this.
Did anyone see the article in yesterday's Guardian about a guy called Tim Crouch, who put a play on in the US in which he invited a different actor to come and play one of the roles each night?. Well, Maura was one of them. I quote
"Maura lives just round the corner from the theater. She didn't bring any friends to see the show;it was like a private challenge, and she was wonderful" Also there's a joke about her signing her photo for his daughter (an ER fan) where she mixed up the pronunciation of the English expression "twot" with something much ruder and wrote "your father is a tw....t" a totally unintended joke!!!

I can't believe you don't like Abby! ... ER has been about Abby pretty much since she joined, she's a really fantastic charachter, and I adore the way her charachter's progressed through the years. I love that she's finally getting to a place where she's enjoying life ... I just hope it lasts!
I guess I feel that way about Sam ... when she joined it was like they tried to make her the new Abby, I just don't seem to have any sympathy for her charachter.

I have warmed to her Character over the last few episodes, hail to the writers Sam is alright but better as Thelma in Scooby Doo!
