Sorry if this is premature - no one seemed to have done this thread yet. So last night's ep - well Kerry was in it - yeay - and she got some half decent airtime too! I liked the ending as well with the women all chilling out at the bar, nurses included - Chuny and Haleh and Sam were all there, as was the new black nurse (why was she there again?). good ep - glad Luka got off. Abby was quite funny with Crenshaw - him saying are u trying to irritate me and she saying you make it so easy - good stuff.
"Never let your work become your life, Kerry. Live a little."
Oooh I really liked this ep- yay for Weaver and Morris being back...those 2 really do make the show.
Loved the Neela stuff..PN really is an awesome actress. I especially loved the close up on her at the end...she had that hurt, confused look down *so* perfectly. (Oh and I so guessed the start was her dreaming...meh, they could have made it a bit less obvious!)
The whole Ray being jealous thing is quite cute too; it will clearly become a full blown love triangle thingy...which we all love, admit it!!
Loved the scene with Dubenko telling Neela off too- we've never really seen him get passionate like that and it really worked! I liked it.
I really liked Gates's storyline too...that girl was hilarious 'marvellous squared!' is so a line I will be using from now on! hee. I thought Gates handled it well. So, Fiona was right about Gates being dyslexic...I guess Neela will save the day there and they'll end up in each other's arms!
The scene with Luka and Ames was soooo moving...FW was excellent there.
And I *loved* all the girls being together at the end again! Felt like the old days of Susan/Carol/Elizabeth/Chen etc! yaay.
Best line- Ray: I move my hips Weaver: Well move them to admit.
So, Fiona was right about Gates being dyslexic...I guess Neela will save the day there and they'll end up in each other's arms!
I do love to be right. But I think I posted that point in tvtmsl (dotty commmmm) so everyone would have to look over there to see that I was right.
I agree about PN, she is an excellent actress. She's been getting a lot of airtime recently, and actual interesting storylines. I really didn't like her to start with. But she's lovely now.
Mysterious_Asian, Gates was sleeping with the woman. My guess is that the husband was his brother or best friend and it might have been Gates' fault that he died and so he's 'looking' after the family our of guilt and obligation.
i like that neela is getting more airtime but i dont like that she is lusting after gates already - and i really didnt like abby telling her to go for it with him!!! also was abit surprised that they had abby - an alcoholic ordering neela tequila!?!?!
i think the woman gates is living with is the widow of his dead best friend that he was in the army with. cos he was talking about knowing him at school and there was that photo of them together in army gear.
poor poor Neela! she is having such a hard time, and is so lonely at the moment, i can understand why she wants Gates, and is thinking about him - and her face at the end was heartbreaking! i don't really mind if she ends up with ray or Gates, as long as shes happy!! - which i know is not likely!
Maurice's storyline annoyed me in this epi - i just thought it was a bit too OTT.
Abby and Luka were cute as always again today, that croatian film sounded interesting! lol
i liked the female bonding time at the end - but with all different ages, and practically every woman in the ER i thought it felt a bit forced.
i think the luka Ames storyline is good, because you can really feel for both sides. Ames lost his life, but it is in no way Luka's fault that he had a stroke - - surely its lucky he had a stroke at a hospital and not at home!
* * * R.I.P THE O.C
JD: "you have a tough day at the office, so you come home, make yourself some dinner, smother you kids, pop in a movie, maybe have a drink. It's fun right? Wrong. Don't smother your kids."
Weaver and Morris are baaaccckk. Yay! Last night proved why I love Kerry; she's caring about her friends - who actually are her friends now she's not worried about the power -and she's a kick ass doctor (with great wit) An episode without her is lessened.
Morris was a little too concerned about his appearence before going before the camera - his 'dressing room' at the end looked like something straight from London fashion week!
I too enjoyed the Gates storyline with the Asperger's girl. Very funny but sensitively handled I thought.
I really felt for Ames though. He has lost everything to persue something he can never get back. Even if he'd 'won' the case, what would have changed. Would his wife come back? I doubt it. It was moving when he broke down in the ER. FW was great.
Poor Neela - trying to do good at work to make her forget her darkening personal life. I think Abby was a bit harsh though - saying she's been greiving for longer than they were married. However, she is right when she says she has to move on.
Oh, and I'm so glad that woman didn't die of a heart attack. How bad would it have been or that girl to lose both her parents on the same day?! Neela saved the day!
Loved the girls at Ike's at the end. A game of 'Sh@g, Shoot or Marry' is the best way to end a hard day!
Quotes of the Week:
Frank: Heeyy! You're not in prison! Luka: Not today, Frank.
Weaver: Oh, God! The camera gets everything doesn't it?
******************************************** Say 'goodbye' Mr. Fish.....he's waving!

also was abit surprised that they had abby - an alcoholic ordering neela tequila!?!?!
Not a problem; alcoholics have to live in the real world and it's clear that Abby is comfortable around other people drinking which can only be a good thing.
Luka and Abby were sweet - the hand holding and the joshing about the film festival (I just loved the way Luka said "Oh my God, you're disapointed!".
wrt Ames it's now clear that, whatever happened in the hospital, it has been the way he chose to handle his situation which has resulted in him losing everything. I wish the writers had had Luka say "No, I didn't give you the best treatment - I gave you the best treatment I couldin the circumstances in a crowded, pressured public facility", which is what happened.
I enjoyed this ep, especially as Morris and Weaver were back! The Ames and Kovac story is good as you cn entirely symapthise with both sides. PN did a nice job as Neela - I really felt her dilemma. I care slightly moree for Gates now (but still not a lot), as he takes up less screentime - hopefully his character will continue to develop.
I don't know what it is -- I've seen something different in Luka these days. When I used to watch the older stuff - which is now showing on More4 - I never really saw Luka as caring for Abby, for some reason. Having seen the stuff in the current, new episodes, I see Luka as a very caring gentleman* (and he's really hot ). I've watched the older stuff again and I totally see Luka in this newer light, rather than the old one. I will always be a Carter fan, I think, but I'm finding myself increasingly drawn between the two of them in the older, More4 episodes. Luka is a very complicated character, understandably so.
*I have a thing with men with manners.
I'm sorry about the lack of articulacy in this post!
"One day my logic was proven wrong because the tide came in and gave me a sail"
I had a big big thing for Carter circa seasons 7-start of 10 but now I am COMPLETELY on the Luka bandwagon. Even watching those old eps back now I find myself getting annoyed at Carter...I just wish I'd seen the light earlier!!
And watching "Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic" this pm I got cross all over again. Luka is decent enough to apologise to Abby and she's snotty and cowardly. What really irritated me was the fact that I'm sure we were all supposed to be thinking "Aw, look at Carter and Abby all hijinx and stuff" when they were breaking into Luka's place. Even then he didn't tear them off a strip. Carter tried to suggest more than once that Abby should come clean with Luka but she didn't. The whole thing made it look as though Luka was some sort of annoying irrelevance even though he'd had the courtesy to apologise and try and talk to her, and looked like a grown up. I really disliked Abby in this. Carby was never a goer for me after that.
I've watched the older stuff again and I totally see Luka in this newer light, rather than the old one.
The thing is I think that we tend to see things from the POV of our preferred character(s); the wretched triangle set up a "rivalry" (although I never really saw Luka joining in!)between the two men and if one was a Carter fan one would inevitably not necessarily see Luka in a positive light, and knowing that Carter apparently had a thing for Abby one would want him to get what he wanted. But on more than one occasion Carter was disrespectful to Luka, whether that was because of jealousy or a sense of entitlement I'm not sure. Me, I've been a slave to Luka since he set foot in the ambulance bay in 6.1 so I saw it from the opposite perspective, and some of the comments now posted here make me think that I might not have been completely wrong.
You all know I'm a massive Carter fan and always will be, because I adore Noah Wyle and always will. That doesn't mean I don't like Luka, or that I think Carter was always right, though In "Blood, sugar ...." he was merely tagging along. It was Abby who was mostly responsible. Sometimes he behaved badly and sometimes Luka did and sometimes they both behaved badly and sometimes they both behaved well . The main problem to me was always Abby, who didn't respect either of them. Perhaps she will this time.
I'm just so glad that Carter and Luka ended up friends and in the end were very good to eachother, even saving eachothers' lives. I felt at the end that they really understood eachother and I could believe in that. So I don't think it should be an either or situation in terms of their characters which were both really pretty decent, even heroic at times, but flawed, because they were both human and that makes for more interesting drama. In the end it probably comes down to which one you had the biggest crush on ( or fancied most, although I think its more than that) as to who you sided with in their conflicts as the writers in the good old days were subtle enough to give you both points of view equally.
As for Luka now. I find him a bit passive with Abby, who seems to be in control, but maybe the feminist in me shouldn't complain
Abby: I would shag Luka Sam: I forgot about that one Chuny: Me too
Or something to that effect
It's easier to list who Luka hasn't been with The Luby scenes were cute too. Especially the line from Luka about the film festival! So glad Weaver, but more so that Morris was back in this ep
