Sorry...only double posting so that someone didn't come along and create another topic for this ep while I was reviewing!
I am distraught at Kerry leaving...and so suddenly that ending scene between her and Luka and when she hugged Abby were both so sweet though.. I will really really miss her! The scene with the decompressing thing just proved what an amazing doc she is. And her scenes with the hurricane victim were so moving too. Farewell LI!
No Ray this week
Sam's hair upsate- slightly better; the hairband definitely suited her... and yay for Bam! (hehehe) Urgh, Newlex was annoying though. The old Alex would have been so much more cocky about taking the credit card.. this one just doesn't look like he has it in him! Loved Sam's Grandma too
I loved the Haleh/Abby moment when Haleh found out about Kerry being fired...just one look from Haleh and Abby is running off going 'I'll talk to him!' hee
Sweet of Pratt to take the blame and not involved Hope but methinks it will come out eventually..
The Neela/Sarah scene was good..hopefully Neela will take her advice and steer clear of Gates! (pleeeease) she's too beautiful for him! The Meg scene was sad I thought..tragic that she paid for him to get through medical school on her husband's insurance money. Just makes me hate Gates more really!
Best line/exchange!- Neela: She called me a wh0re Abby: Did she say 'dirty wh0re' or 'filthy wh0re'? Neela: There's a difference? Abby: Depends on the wh0re
omg i cant believe kerry left like that. it was so sudden. (also doesnt she have to give notice?) she rocked with the decompressing guts but did anyone elses stomach turn when the air wooshed out!?! nasty sound
sams hair finally looks like she has found out what conditioner is for!
if i was morris i would of called the police on alex for taking the credit card! how is sam going to pay that back?!?!
pratt was so harsh to ray when he came into that trauma!! and then he found out it was prob his fault!!!
did you see the preview for next week? i wont say what happens cos of spoilers but that all kicks off big time!!!
i cant believe sarah called her a wh*re!!! neela calling her a little tosser made me laugh. i love when she slips in the englishisms.
gates was very rough with meg in the break room. i think maybe their relationship isnt a very healthy one.
i cant believe she used her husbands insurance money to put tony through med school. most people would of put it away for their daughter. she must of desperate to hold onto him even back then
why must Weaver leave... i will miss her i felt anoyed with Luka in this epi, 1, because he fierd kerry, and two he decided to change his mind when he realized he could get ridd of Pratt instead. Also im not to sure the Lopez's would be to happy with Kerry going to Miami with Henry?
Sams grandmother made me laugh (i agree that sams hair looked alot better)
its a wierd set up Gates has with Meg and Sarah, if i was Neela i would take Sarah's advice...
as for Pratt i hope he doesnt get into to much trouble over this Church thing, its nice of him to take the blame for Hope too.
I didn't get the impression that it came down to Pratt or Kerry. Luka had already told Kerry that only her salary would meet the required reduction in costs. In the end he told her he'd try to find the savings elsewhere but I'm not sure how as I'm sure that he'd already looked at other options.
No point being annoyed with Luka, he's doing his job as instructed by the high ups.
NOOO Kerrie's gone and damn the E4 ads for ruining it! She was great in this one- with the New Orleans patient and decompressing guts and having a go at Luka (even though she wasn't completely blameless in the incident that nearly lost Luka his job she was still right to be p!ssed). The leaving speech made me teary! I have to say though overall the way she's left has been disappointing. It feels like she's just been fazed out over the last season or so the only significant storyline I can really remember was her op last season and the half hearted Courtney and reporter thing this season. Considering she's been in it so long it doesn't seem to do her justice.
Anyway the rest of the epi... Pratt was brought down from his high horse then with Ray and that patient. The drug trade was only ever going to end badly though and it was good of him to leave out Hope- him and Morris are all about the "good deeds" for her now adays!
I actually quite like Sam now which surprises me. Loved her gran with Alex! haha! The fear in his eyes! And her and Ben are cute but I realised when I was watching it that he reminds me of Shaggy from Scooby Doo! Maybe it's just because LC was in the movie.
I feel sorry for Sarah she's obviously caught in the middle of something very messy with Gates and Meg. Meg's very good at manipulating him but I felt quite sorry for her paying for his med school and now he wants to move on. I still dislike him, Neela please listen to Sarah: leave Gates, and have more humourous conversations with Abby! they're more fun.
I don't like Luka hair when it's got that kind of wet gel look to it. He seemed panicy when he was treating the patient Kerry saved and short tempered when Abby spoke to him, although that was probably just because he fired his friend, but the Ames thing is still definitely affecting him IMO. Although maybe he was stressed because he also realised his hair was making him look slightly less hot than usual.
Kerry's exit was a bit of a surprise but by compared to recent departures it was a good one. Over the last few years we've had some depressing and disappointing farewells: Romano, Dr Corday, Dr Lewis, Gallant, Dr Chen plus many others. Kerry will be missed.
I think it is total pants that Weaver is leaving. I loved the bit where Weaver told Luka that she took the fall to save his job. How can she say that ... She hired Clemente... it was her mistake that nearly got Luka fired. She only has herself to blame for her fall from grace. Luka did what he had to do. The slightly clumsy way in which he approached her clearly shows that he found this a very difficult decision.
Run Neela, get away from Gates as fast as you can. Meg uses her daughter as a pawn to hold on to Gates and Gates used the insurance money from her death hubby to pay for Med school. What is wrong with the guy? Does he only go for women with death husbands? And if he really loved the kid would he not have made sure that the insurance cash was invested for her future and get his own money to pay for Med school? I so don't like Gates.
Loved Grandma...wouldn't it be great if TPTB kept her around to sort creepy Alex out?
even though she wasn't completely blameless in the incident that nearly lost Luka his job
No, she wasn't blameless - Luka was! It's just complete B/S for her to say to him that she took any kind of fall for him to save his job. The whole Clemente situation was entirely of her making - she hired him knowing he was dodgy, evidently never divulged to Luka what had "happened in Newark", backed him up, while Luka bent over backward to do things by the book with him in terms of testing and evaluation, sending him home when he thought he wasn't ready to be back at work. Really, Luka is squeaky clean on this one and in a way it's a nice touch that this backstabbing, self serving streak in Kerry is demostrated right up to the bitter end.
iwas so shocked at Weaver's sudden departure! i think its desgraceful that someone can put so many good years into a job, and get dropped just like that! i thought she really rocked this episode - even though i don't normally really like her, i think i will kind of miss her. Does anybody know why Laura Inns left the show? was it her choice? does it have anything to do with her wanting to move into directing?
on other topics - i am quite glad to see that there are reprocussions for what Pratt did- because it was sucha stupid and careless thing to do. but i'm glad that he didn't metion Hope - cause she's still quite naive in wanting to help people.
Sam's hair is looking better i agree - and i like learning more about her family- and what a screwed up one it seems to be: Grandma who grows Pot, Mum in prison, Dad ?, son stealing credit cards, and exhusband was in prison, not to mention that she is a murderer. But despite her tough life, she seems to do ok - and now she's got a new love interest - who i hope she will appreciate more than Luka.
next week looks exciting!
* * * R.I.P THE O.C
JD: "you have a tough day at the office, so you come home, make yourself some dinner, smother you kids, pop in a movie, maybe have a drink. It's fun right? Wrong. Don't smother your kids."
So very very sad to see the end of Weaver. Love her or loath her and at times you did both, that was what was so wonderful about this complex character and the wonderful actress who played her. The last of the truly complex characters has now gone.
On a bright note for Laura Innes, she is wanting to do more directing and is down for some directing gigs including ER episodes, I believe, so I think the departure was amicable, if rather rapid, though it is difficult to see how Weaver could fit in with the current set up asnd her role was being increasingly marginalised, she will be sorely missed.
On another topic, I thought the Gates character would add some spice to the show. John Stamos seemd pretty good, but the writers don't really seem to know what to do with him. I'm already getting tired of him. It's a pitty Neela isn't yet.

you realy think that was murder??
O'course it was. It wasn't self defense and it wasn't an accident. She could have gotten in the car and driven off but she didn't. She got out and shot him. She took the law in her own hands and luckily for her she got away with it... On the other hand she has to live with the fact that her little precious son saw how mommy shot daddy!
gotta say that the preview for next week gave away too much about the episode, we sort of know whats going to happen...ive decided i should turn off before they come on but i have no will power. next week does look good though. this episode was good, i do like to see a bit more of abby and luka together though.i like that sam has found someone and ben seems nice. does sound like she has had a mad life, shes a bit of an abby in that sense. gates although hot and funny, doesnt seem the nicest sort of boyfriend so i think neela should go with ray who rele likes her!! all in all a good episode but not enough action.

yeah your right, just the term murderer seems abit harsh given the circumstances, but thats just me

I think I said at the time that the writers seemed to be condoning murder when they let Sam get away with it. I thought that was morally dubious. It was like ages ago during the beginning of the first Luby when Luka got away scott free with beating Abby's attacker to death after he had already knocked him over in self defence (or rather in defence of Abby). In both cases the reactions were entirely understandable, but involved "heroes" taking the law into their own hands. This seems a dangerous support for a kind of vigilante type of justice, which invades US films/TV series. Perhaps I'm idealistic in wanting ER to be above this.
The difference is I think that the writers took the time and trouble to show the effect it had had on Luka; Sam seems just peachy when not dealing with Alex's latest misdemeanour.

Uh huh...they give away SO much...which is why I switch off before the previews...and every time the ad comes on on e4...which is a LOT...it's sooo annoying
OK so i'm confused...what exactly did Pratt do that was so wrong? Seeing the preview for next week's episode confused me...so im well confused someone explain?
