Shut up Abby, shut up Haleh, go Morris. Oh for gawd's sake Gates/Meg/Sarah - bugger off, keep driving Sam, and Gracie is the old woman I intend to become. Soon. And while we're at it - Kerry, you took the fall for no-one, you paid the price for your own bad calls, so stop with the trying to guilt trip your boss.

Luka - next time just stick the pins in your eyes, it will hurt less.

And could someone please give some consideration to the Cook County Managers' Guidance which states that all and any sensitive or personal conversations with employees must be conducted in either public or quasi public places, unless privacy is specifically requested by said employee. Perhaps Luka learned his breaking bad news to emplyees skills from Kerry herself who always seemed to favour the admit desk for such tasks.

What was Kerry thinking making promises about the surgery like she did? And I know we were supposed to see how fantastic she is as a doctor but was it really necessary to have her trump both Dubenko and Luka to achieve that? And Kerry has held senior management posts - how is it that she appears not to know the difference not only between capital and revenue budgets but also between the ER budget and that of the Surgical department; and how was it at all fitting to barge into a trauma to harangue Luka about it? The way this was written made both her and Luka look like idiots and Abby like a spoilt child.

MP did a really good job in his scene with Luka; he was like a little boy asking his dad to help him.

Abby really needs to learn the difference between her personal relationship with Luka and her professional one with the Chief of the ER. She thinks she should have been told about Luka's decision before Kerry had been told? Why? What would she have done - chewed his ear to try and persuade him to change his mind? Did her and Haleh (I cannot stand that woman) think their boss should change his decision based on what his partner said? Why didn't Abby tell Haleh it would be completely inappropriate for her to put personal pressure on Luka?

Not one of the episodes I'll be rewatching much I think.

Oh but I love Haleh and always did. She's the only real link left to the great ER of yesteryear. The whole point of this feisty lady is that she represented the nurses and was there to put the doctors in their place. That included Mark, Doug, Carter and Luka, who have all got above themselves at times. Carol did it too in earlier times whereas Abby always had her eye too much on either dating a doctor or becoming one to really stick up for nurses and reprove doctors when they got too bossy.

My work has often involved working with nurses so I know what they have to put up with from doctors sometimes so maybe I'm biaiased.

I can't fault Luka for having to sack someone, and I don't think Clemente was ever his fault ( the writers should have been sacked for him though!), but there is a way of doing things and he needs to study some management skills. Weaver was always a terrific doctor, but not a good manager. Perhaps Luka is following in her footsteps. Of course Abby is far too familiar with Luka at work, but if you are practically married to your boss that's an almost impossible situation as you wouldn't normally try and boss your boss about at work, which is what she does ( and at home too). I don't think the writers have worked out the problem here.

As for Weaver not knowing about finance, of course she does/did. It's just another example of sloppy writing. The problem is that so many actors are leaving the show these days and it would seem at short notice that they can't think up plausible scenarios quickly enough so they come up with stories which are full of holes.

I did like Gracie in this epi. She's a cool grannie.

I really will miss Laura Innes , though.

At least the witers are consistent in their determination to misrepresent the financial management of large organisations; the upshot of "Insurrection" was that capital expenditure on metal detectors impacted the revenue budget to the extent that three nurses had to be cut.

If you want to discuss things about next week's show please do so in the spoiler threads.

Good point Clare, but I can't remember what happened in the preview (fortunate memory problems sometimes!)

I do believe that what Pratt did that was wrong was prescribe medicine from the church without a pharmacy licence, which will be some legal thing to make sure people don't fall through the net and die like our man in this weeks episode.

If it is about next weeks, then I have no idea anyway.

Whatever the merits of Kerry's exit I prefer to take the long view. She joined in Season 2 and has been a valued member of the show in my opinion.

Saw the season finale "Rampage" from Season 7 last night. One of Kerry's great moments is when she goes toe to toe with Romano & tries to save Legaspi's job and comes out as a lesbian. (all of which happens in the men's washroom).

Shooting from the hip!

I was also sad to see Weaver leave so quickly - it's frustrating that they keep having to do these quick fix stories for actors who have to exit quickly, takes some of the realism away.
Gates still annoys me & Neela should be with someone better!
Overall I enjoyed this episode but like others also disliked how much was revealed on the "next week preview". I've noticed that they particularly do a bad job when it's the last ep of the series - they have frequently shown the final scene! I avoid major spoilers but don't expect next week previews to spoil my enjoyment of the next ep - I think I will switch off when that section comes on now!
