Abby wakes up in Luka's bed (still holding hands; aaawwww) and is all "What did I do??" We see her scrabbling around on the floor at the foot of the bed and Luka wakes, asking her what she's doing. She is looking for her underwear. Is she on tonight? No. So why is she leaving? She thinks she should. Luka says she should stay. Her instict to skidaddle is being forestalled quite neatly. Luka retrieves her knickers etc from beneath the bedclothes andtells her he's going to make breakfast - except it seems they've been in bed through breakfast. And lunch. Oh, and Luka remembers how she likes her eggs. Sweet. I think that's right because a naked, post coitally grinning Luka is a bit of a distraction. Ahem.
Big air crash, Luka and Abby go in; they work well together on a patient who has been seriously hurt in the cras and decides that he has to call off his wedding because he's lived his whole life not doing what he really wanted to do and anyway he's almost sure he's gay. Carpe diem!! And watch out for that anvil there.
At the end of the day Luka is leaving and runs into Abby outside. Very well played little scene where he says he's been thinking about last night. She smiles to herself and says "It was nice". Luka pauses just long enough for this to be funny and says "Nice?" apparently thinking it was a bit more than nice. She gets defensive and says "Wasn't it?" He trips over his words, all "No, yes, I mean of course." There's some to and fro about what to do now and eventually he manages to string a few sentences together to the effect that, even when they weren't close, she was the one person he felt he could rely on; she says she feels the same. And here he makes his mistake by saying that it means a lot to him "that friendship". At his use of the F word Abby verbally barges in front of him to get the "So we'll just leave it at that then" line in first so she doesn't have to hear it from him. He says he doesn't know, but if that's what she wants ... She says that what they should do. He offers her a lift looking like she's just told him she probably gave him an STD but she declines, having more of that mysterious "stuff" to do in the hospital.
They make to leave but take a step closer to each other, nearly colliding, before backing off and going on their way. We see them individually turn and look at the other's oblivious, retreating back.
"Still hot, baby".
