Latest adjustments to the GISS (Goddard Institute for Space Studies) temperature records depended on by the AGW lobby now show the 15 hottest years since 1880 are spread over seven decades! Even worse for the 'warmers', the more accurate data now shows FOUR of the 10 hottest years on record were in the 1930s and the hottest year is 1934 instead of 1998. This lays to rest such enviro-tosh as spouted by the likes of Al Gore in which he claims nine of the 10 hottest years have been in the last decade and removes a very large pillar of hysteria stirred up by the heavily funded AGW lobby.
Canadian researcher Steve McIntyre uncovered the faulty data and the pro-AGW GISS has quietly adjusted their temperature figures without bothering to make any formal announcement of their error.
Although the adjustments are small and relate to US temperature records only, they are significant as surface temperature readings cover only half the planet today and less than a quarter before Word War Two - so US readings are among the most reliable there are covering a period back to 1880.
1998 and 2005 are still the two hottest years (depending on whether you use Nasa or UK data), and 9 of the 10 hottest years still happened in the last 10 years.
1934 and 1998 comparisons relate to the United States only. The 1930's in the US were the dustbowl years of exceptionally hot weather for the time, and previously (and now) the two years were within 0.02C of each other.
The US only covers 2% of the earth's surface, so a small change to its data will have a very small change overall.
Given your usual attitude to the debate I wonder whether I should comment on your psychological needs to believe this story without first checking whether it is true, but I won't
