Funny how some of the posts have mysteriously disappeared! Especially the ones explaining how to complain to Offcom.

Oh well, so much for free-speech.

What, like this one:
quote:
If you are disappointed/angry at the propaganda that was The Great Global Warming Swindle here is where to complain:

http://www.ofcom.org.uk/complain/progs/specific/?itemid=286480

Complain to C4 itself:

http://help.channel4.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb...T_VE,VARSET_TITLE=TV

Complain to the advertisers:

Volkswagon, Hastings & Direct, Bradford & Bingley, Visa, Yakurt, Orange, Audi, Virgin Media, Mitchelin, Zurich finance, Wrigley (orbit gum), Ing Direct (finance), Magners Cider, confused.com (insurance), Christian Dior (J'adore), Kraft foods (Toblerone, Cote d'or), Nat West, Love Films, Citreon, Nissan, Expedia, Microsoft, Ibuleve, Otex ear drops.

Notice how many car and finance adverts there were. I let The Independent off because they published an article criticising the documentary.
- what else?

The answer of course is to post this information on as many other boards as you can find...

As I contributed to this topic before I lost my posts as well - so I will ask this question direct to RobbieWriter and Wordsmithy:

How can you equate "free speech" with your obvious desire to silence all dissenting voices to your own view by pressurising broadcasters and advertisers?

Neither of you have any right whatsoever to talk about "free speech" when you are so willing to deny it to others.

Fee speech does not mean that anyone can say anything. I have complained because an unbalanced view was presented largely consisting of mis-representation of science. Channel 4 should now be required to make this clear on prime-time TV (as was the case last time). And hopefully they will think twice. But then again, they regularly seem to be in the news about the standard of their programmes.

Carl Wunsch understood he was contributing to a balanced discussion, but it wasn't, and he is now in the process of complaining himself.

And you are able to make your views known through forums such as this and Mr Wunsch is able to set the record straight - just like Prof Reiter tried to set the record straight against the IPCC.

"Balance" is almost impossible to achieve because the politically accepted view (even David Cameron believes it) is the one you prefer. This is ONE show highlighting that some people hold different opinions.

Your statements about "misrepresentation of science" are merely opinions, not facts, as there are no facts surrounding the whole issue - just differing interpretations. Why should I blindly accept your representation of science?

If you wish to de-bunk alternative theories, be my guest, but DON'T seek to deny me, or others, access to opinions.

I will make up my mind by myself, not due to the soviet-style suppression you wish to engage in.

I don't suggest that you do. I suggest that you look into it all for yourself.

Soviet-style suppression? Big Grin

Come on. Making complaints is hardly rounding up millions of people and sending them to the gulags.

I agree nobody need accept anyone's statements other than the science itself. Since the vast majority of scientists accept that climate-change is caused by CO2 emissions, perhaps you should take their word for it, rather than just picking a science that suits your lifestyle or politics.

I have limited my points to the suppression of free speech that you claim to be upholding. My opinion on the "science" is, as far as you are concerned, unknown.

You, on the other hand Robbie have a very clearly defined view that we can all read about in endless, endless posts on this subject.

The big issue is that you then seek to deny a voice to a dissenting opinion. The meaning of your complaints to broadcasters and advertisers is to bully them out of the broadcasting/funding an alternative viewpoint.

That not only makes you a bad scientist, it also makes you a less than savoury individual.

Free speech as per the AGW lobby is like what Henry Ford said about the choice of color for the Ford T- you can have any color you want as long as it is black

The best thing to do with the know-nothing-all-mouth brigade is to lure them out into the light so that their lack of understanding and logic can be exposed.

But a true sceptic will learn and allow new knowledge to form their opinion, just as I and many others have done.

People are entitled to their own opinions, but not to their own facts.

It's ironic that the Climate Change lobby want to complain about, of all stations, Channel 4, whose nightly news program is completely friendly to them.

For example, when the IPCC summary report was produced it was presented as an issue no longer up for discussion.

I would have thought that this one show is the mininum of what Channel 4 needed to do to provide some balance itself.
