Well, I will certainly not knock down anyone who wants to take information from realclimate. I think there are sincere AGW scientists involved in the project who are doing a good job of reflecting the state of AGW science.

Personally though I felt a distinct lack of debate and the fms seemed overawed by the scientific brilliance of their leaders. I also detect a religious zeal amongst some fms there- one post stood out that said realclimate arms us, the footsoldiers, with the arsenal to go 'out there' and fight the enemy. Heavy stuff, isn't it?

Thanks for not knocking. Jesuit’s of the new orthodoxy? Steady on! I think most if not all are very sincere. Like that brilliance remark though. Becoming a convert?

Heavy is when your own government edits your reports before publishing. Censors what you can talk about. And so on. Reminds me of one website. Let’s call it whitehouse.gov . You type in “global warming” in their search engine and you get one article, just one – a header in which states “Vikings enjoy Greenland beaches” (I can imagine a cartoon of that) AGW is complicated but this I understand. Now where’s my pitchfork?

I think it’s symptomatic of the Bush admin’s attitude on GW. After all – how many letters, emails does the White House get exclusively on global warming? Perhaps thousands a week and all we get is just one article.

How about this?:-

Sometimes you read something about this administration that is just so shameful it takes your breath away. For me, that was the March 20 article in this paper detailing how a House committee had just released documents showing “hundreds of instances in which a White House official who was previously an oil industry lobbyist edited government climate reports to play up uncertainty of a human role in global warming or play down evidence of such a role.”
The official, Philip A. Cooney, left government in 2005, after his shenanigans were exposed in The Times, and was immediately hired by, of course, Exxon Mobil. Before joining the White House, he was the “climate team leader” for the American Petroleum Institute, the main oil industry lobby arm.

Doesn’t that get you angry? Compared to some remark on a website the above is pretty heavy.
