What do you want to know? The laser diodes were ripped out of some laser spirit levels bought from Stanley. Laser pointers will do but the beam isn't as fat. The detectors are simple light-sensitive resistors fed by a 15v battery. The change in voltage triggers a Roland TD12 electric drum kit brain. Alternatively you could feed a computer via a MIDI-interface. To avoid double triggering I used a simple diode arangement. Voila! Any more questions let me know.

BAS! Is that really you?!
Absolutely *love* the show! Of course, half of the enjoyment is the presenters -- you, Adam & Jen. You all seem to gel so well, and your laughter is so infectious!
yeah it's me! dunno if we're gonna get the second series. hey, you could email channel 4 and tell them that we're ACE so they might comission another series! hehe. hope you enjoy the last episode next sunday. b
The dry-ice bomb Your reactions to the electric shocks The guy who wouldn't wake up.
One of your more ingenious contraptions was the carpet 'wave'. But it would have been even better if the 'wave' structure remained stationary! You could have had a roll of carpet joined at each end -- like a Rizla cigarette rolling machine, and have that going round and round ad infinitum.
Hey Bas i hope they give you guys another series you guys rule and you are the coolest person on tv with your long hair and pyramid belt my favorite was the very first episode with the haunted house my sundays are gonna be boring now i hope ya get another series and ROCK ON
1) I was mortified when I found out that Sundays programme was the last in the series. Please tell me there is going to be another one? I properly got into the programme, mainly because it made me laugh so much. Science, funny? Who'd have thought it... 2)Dr Adam is HOT.
I have to say that I am so NOT usually that enthusiastic about science but was completely drawn in to MIW when I accidently discovered it. It's a total gem and made me laugh out loud regularly, it's a bit like watching an intelligent version of Jackass and actually learning something too
Please C4! Do another series. I abhor scrapheap challenge and robot wars - MIW is quality viewing.
Bas/Jem/Adam if you read this message board you have to do some sort of MIW tour! It'd be genuis!
thanks for all the support guys/girls. i agree, a MIW tour would be ace fun!! keep posting Channel 4 science forum (esp. to get C4 to support another MIW series!) word, baz

How did make the drum kit notice the change in voltage? Which kind of module did you use?

You are saying its possible to make the sensor connect to a pc, can you explain this?

what do you mean by this?
I want to build my own laser drumkit, for a school project (low budget). Any tips?
Maybe it's easier if you add me on msn/ or mail me personal: hanswegman@hotmail.com (i am dutch)
