'Early in the morning, the sun was up....and the sky was very blue...'
I have recorded the start of the thunderstorm season ( normally from early May to late August ) for every year for the past 35 or more. I can tell you all about the storms of June 7th 1977, or May 31st 1981, etc. Its been a hobby for years.
And my own stats show ( on average ) the storm season starting marginally later each year. For example in 1971 it was as early as May 5th....with violent storms that lasted for 2 weeks.
Back in 71, despite the violent storms that raged on for 2 whole weeks, nobody said the end of the world was coming.
These days, if lightning hits someone's house...........it is 'yet another' sign of global warming'. Never mind that the most violent storms I can recall were in 1981...particularly July 9th....probably the most violent storms on record in the past 100 years.
If 1981 were 2007, we'd be told that the end of the world was nigh. Headlines like 'Worst storms ever ! ' ( In fact the 81 storms barely got a mention ! ).
Back then....we just put on ELO and enjoyed the rain. Storms were a normal part of nature back then.......not a signal of doomsday.
Being a storm chaser.....I'm still waiting for a 1981 repeat. Who knows......maybe this year.....
Oh...and for ELO purists ( I never worked out why ELO always had a thing about rain......maybe someone can tell me )....yes I know the opening quote is from the wrong album. But then....'Time' is probably even more prophetic with songs like ' Is this the way life's meant to be '.

Chi, lf l'd have had an apartment near you the sounds of King Crimson would have been part of your life! l would have listened to your ELO though ;-)
Some of King Crimsons lyrics ....
I'm on the outside looking inside What do I see Much confusion, disillusion All around me.
You don't possess me Don't impress me Just upset my mind Can't instruct me or conduct me Just use up my time.
I talk to the wind My words are all carried away I talk to the wind The wind does not hear The wind cannot hear.
