Just reading the various posts on this topic, it's plain to see that the hysteria has now gone into over-drive and sane argument has gone out the window. The planet has been heating up gradually since the last Ice age and it's not difficult to see that with man's help or not, this is a natural cycle which will continue, regardless of whether I have loft insulation or take two holidays a year to Spain.
I'm not saying we shouldn't conserve where possible as our planets resources are not infinite, but why is it that the hysterics who subscribe to the man made CO2 hypothesis, go completely off the deep end when a contrary argument is put forward, it's almost akin to the Salem witch hunts.. the green fanatics have now taken over and independant thought is being crushed.
Since no one can prove or disprove what MAY or MAY NOT happen, no matter how many "scientific facts" are bandied about, surely moderation in all things should be the order of the day. However, moderation never seems to win votes so the political parties are falling over themselves in coming up with new ideas to win the green vote and hey, guess what, the other bonus is that they can whack all sorts of unjust/unfair taxes on the poor and unsuspecting public without any opposition. Politians are canny folk and are now using the lunacy to their advantage, unchecked.

I find it laughable the way the sceptics profile people concerned by man-induced climate change.

On the one hand,they moan because they accuse us of being a dominant majority squashing any decenting voice.

Then on the other hand they accuse us of being hysterical and "going off the deep end".

Which suggests paranoia? Or unless the sceptics are right and the vast majority of the UK is hysterical?

Perhaps the sceptics should realise that the vast majority of scientists agree that the science indicates man-induced climate change.

Which is good news, it means we can do something about it.

Eco-Nazi? As it happens I agree that many of the politicians have jumped on the bandwagon.

But I think you will find that many scientists had been warning about CO2 emissions way, way before the mainstream politicians got involved. Often to deaf ears until they all started to get the same results.

So don't dismiss the science because of the politicians! And anyway two of the most powerful lobbies are the oil industry and the car lobby. So it is totally inconvenient for politicians to reject the car lobby.

I find it hard to believe "green" votes outstrip the car lobby.

But that is the problem: "votes" is what gets a government elected and at the moment green votes count.

Well actually they don't becasuse all the main stream parties have jumped on the bandwagon so whoever you vote for you are likely to get mad eco-policies & soundbites (like Camerons recent Air Tax).

All a "lobby" does is to try and influence policy. All parties are currently intotxicated by green votes and will not be listening to car/oil lobbyists.

Well I think the truth is more like the politicians say what the voters want to hear a few months leading up to elections and then are in the pay of lobbyists the rest of the time, because the lobbyists have the big bucks!
